This fact sheet describes graywater. Though not suitable as drinking water, graywater can be used for irrigation particularly of trees and shrubs, whose woody stems serve as additional filters for contaminants that may be present.

Making A Difference: An Interdisciplinary Social Engagement Project, Richard Ayres, Maria Tighe, Sebastian Stevens Jan 2015

Making A Difference: An Interdisciplinary Social Engagement Project, Richard Ayres, Maria Tighe, Sebastian Stevens

Peninsula Medical School

In Sept 2013 the Plymouth Peninsula Schools of Medicine and Dentistry enrolled its first students. From the beginning this new Plymouth-based medical school set out be distinctive and to enshrine our parent University principles in the curriculum that we offer. We decided that the term “making a difference” could be used both to summarize our mission as a medical and dental school, and to characterise the individual student experience that we offer.- The school as a whole would make a difference to the health and wellbeing of our population - Every student will be able to ‘make a difference’ during …

Revitalizing Dormant Commerce Clause Review For Interstate Coordination, Alexandra B. Klass, Jim Rossi Jan 2015

Revitalizing Dormant Commerce Clause Review For Interstate Coordination, Alexandra B. Klass, Jim Rossi

Articles

Interstate coordination presents one of the most difficult challenges for American federalism as well as for energy markets and policy. Existing laws vest the approval of large-scale energy infrastructure projects such as interstate oil pipelines and high-voltage, interstate electric transmission lines with state and local levels of government. At the same time, state siting and eminent domain regimes routinely enable and even encourage state regulators to hold out from approving interstate infrastructure projects, hobbling any hope for interstate coordination. This Article analyzes how judicial review under dormant Commerce Clause principles and doctrine can promote better interstate coordination by discouraging regulatory …

The Expression Pattern Of Death Associated Protein Kinase1 In Normal Dorsal Root Ganglion Neurons And Following Peripheral Nerve Injury, Maryam Sulaiman Mohammed Al Saadi Jan 2015

The Expression Pattern Of Death Associated Protein Kinase1 In Normal Dorsal Root Ganglion Neurons And Following Peripheral Nerve Injury, Maryam Sulaiman Mohammed Al Saadi

Theses

Death-associated protein kinase 1 (DAPK1) is a calcium/calmodulin (Ca2+/CaM) regulated serine/threonine kinase. An increasing body of evidence supports the significance of DAPK 1 protein in cancer and CNS diseases. The role of DAPK in peripheral nerve regeneration and neuropathic pain remains completely unexplored. The aim of this study is to investigate the expression pattern of DAPK1 along with key pro-and anti-apoptotic cell signaling molecules (p53, Bax, Akt, ERK5, p38) and to verify the possibilities of DAPKI1-NMDA NR2B relationship in dorsal root ganglion neurons (DRG) after 2 hours, 7 days and 14 days following a sciatic nerve injury. Gene …

Corporate Social Performance, Analyst Stock Recommendations, And Firm Future Returns, Xueming Luo, Heli Wang, Sascha Raithel, Qinqin Zheng Jan 2015

Corporate Social Performance, Analyst Stock Recommendations, And Firm Future Returns, Xueming Luo, Heli Wang, Sascha Raithel, Qinqin Zheng

Research Collection Lee Kong Chian School Of Business

This study posits that security analysts heed corporate social performance information and factor it into their recommendations to general investors. In particular, as corporate social performance is often uncertain and ambiguous to general investors, analysts may serve as the informational pathway connecting corporate social performance to firm stock returns. Thus, we argue that analyst recommendations mediate the relationship between corporate social performance and firm stock returns. On the basis of not only a qualitative study with literature searches and interviews of stock analysts but also a quantitative study with two longitudinal samples of large firms, we find support for these …

Does Service Employees' Appearance Affect The Healthiness Of Food Choice?, Tabea: Benoit Huneke, Sabine Benoit, Anders Gustafsson Jan 2015

Does Service Employees' Appearance Affect The Healthiness Of Food Choice?, Tabea: Benoit Huneke, Sabine Benoit, Anders Gustafsson

Research Collection Lee Kong Chian School Of Business

Derived from previous research on social influence on food consumption and social comparison theory, this article examines the effect of service employees’ appearance on consumers’ food choice using an experimental study, involving a video manipulation and eye-tracking technique. The video shows a menu being proffered by a waitress whose degree of apparent healthiness varies (healthy, overweight, unhealthy lifestyle). The menu contains both healthy and unhealthy meal alternatives. The analysis of participants’ eye movements demonstrated that exposure to the overweight employee did not stimulate greater (i.e., earlier or longer) attention to unhealthy meal alternatives, whereas exposure to the employee who displayed …

Immunohistochemical Assessment Of Cytokeratin 17 And Epcam Expression In Different Grades Of Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma, Safaa El-Baz, Iman Helmy, Mohamed Hosam El Mallahy Jan 2015

Immunohistochemical Assessment Of Cytokeratin 17 And Epcam Expression In Different Grades Of Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma, Safaa El-Baz, Iman Helmy, Mohamed Hosam El Mallahy

Dentistry

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), one of the most common malignancies in the head and neck region, is graded based on Broder’s classification into well-differentiated, moderately, and poorly differentiated. Cytokeratin 17 (K17, CK17) is an acid-type I cytokeratin with a low-molecular weight of 48.1 kDa. Epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM) is a hemophilic Ca2+ independent adhesion molecule. This study used an immunohistochemical technique (IHC) to examine the expression of CK17 and EpCAM in thirty-two specimens of OSCC (comprising 13 well-, 9 moderately, and 10 poorly differentiated cases), and 2 specimens of normal oral mucosa, used as control. It was found …
