Dying persons and their caregivers encounter several needs as part of the dying journey. Spiritual care, when offered effectively, can help address many of those needs. When people’s needs are fulfilled, their suffering is lessened and there is an increased possibility of them experiencing a good death. However, when spiritual care is not offered effectively, dying persons and their caregivers often continue to face unalleviated suffering which limits their ability to experience a good death. Early spatial abilities are related to a number of positive academic outcomes such as success in geometry and chemistry domains in later adulthood (Delgado & Prieto, 2004; Stieff, 2007). Further, more advanced spatial abilities in early adolescence predicts engagement and success in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) occupations in later adulthood (Shea, Lubinski, & Benbow, 2001). There is a wealth of research that links spatial abilities to overall mathematics achievement in both adults (e.g., Casey, Nuttall, Pezaris, & Benbow, 1995) and children (e.g., Holmes, Adams, & Hamilton, 2008).

Urdu is a classic example of digraphia, a linguistic situation in which different scripts are used to write the same language (Ahmad, 2011). The analysis of orthographic practices of reading and writing Urdu in Arabic script versus in Urdu script reveals that Muslims learning to read the Quran in Western countries are not explicitly aware of the features specific to Urdu script. In the context of the Value-based Healthcare Delivery reform, Michael Porter defines value as a patient's health outcome per dollar spent. Porter's proposal is comprised of organizing care around a medical condition (or around patient segments for primary care). Problem gambling is a widespread phenomenon with a prevalence estimate of 2.3% globally (Williams, Volberg, & Stevens, 2012). Although little is known about the neurochemistry underlying this pathological behaviour, evidence suggests that dysregulation of the brain’s endocannabinoid (eCB) system may be implicated in impulsivity and decision-making. For example, chronic cannabis users exhibit impulsive behaviour and impaired decision-making on the Iowa Gambling Task (IGT). Jurors rely on eyewitness testimony in deciding a defendant’s guilt or innocence. Archival analyses of hundreds of post-conviction DNA exonerations have identified eyewitness misidentification as the highest individual factor contributing to wrongful convictions (Innocence Project, 2014). Internationally, criminal justice systems have employed procedural safeguards (PSs) to educate juries on factors affecting eyewitness identification accuracy. Two such safeguards include the introduction of eyewitness expert testimony during trial proceedings and the reading of cautionary instructions by a presiding judge. By imagining a society without the state, post-apocalyptic narratives are able to explore concerns about current forms of governance and social control. Animal models are frequently used in place of human specimens to study the progression of injury and/or disease of the intervertebral disc (IVD). This project aimed to compare the geometry, hydration, histology, and mechanical properties of selected animal models: bovine (cow) tail, porcine (pig) lumbar, and ovine (sheep) lumbar IVDs. X-ray images were taken and used to determine the anterior, posterior, and lateral IVD and vertebral heights in order to calculate IVD: vertebral height ratios. Firefighters require a high level of physical fitness in order to meet the demands of their profession. While physical fitness testing is required to join the department, firefighters are not subject to further formal exercise testing throughout the duration of their careers. Active, career firefighters were tested on a variety of physical fitness measures related to body composition, strength, power, and endurance over three testing sessions. 49 firefighters (40.5 ± 8.3 yr, 89.5 ± 13.0 kg, 27.8 ± 3.6 kg/m2) were found to have a resting heart rate of 57.7 ± 8.2 bpm, blood pressure of 121.5 ± 11.9/71.5 ± …

In this thesis we study relative equilibria of di-atomic and isosceles tri-atomic molecules in classical approximations with repulsive-attractive interaction. For di-atomic systems we retrieve well-known results. The main contribution consists of the study of the existence and stability of relative equilibria in a three-atom system formed by two identical atoms of mass $m$ and a third of mass $m_3$, constrained in an isosceles configuration at all times.

Global climate change is an issue of environmental justice, because neither contributions toward the causes nor its consequences are equally distributed across and within countries (Roberts, 2001). Given the importance of framing climate change as an environmental justice issue, the present study sought to understand how youth conceptualize and engage with environmental justice across multiple countries. Introduction: Sideroblastic cardiomyopathy secondary to repeated blood transfusions is a feared complication in thalassaemia. Control of myocardial iron is thus becoming the cornerstone of thalassaemia management. Recent evidence suggests a role for L-type Ca²⁺ channels in mediating iron uptake by the heart. Blocking the cellular iron uptake through these channels may add to the benefit of therapy to standard chelation in reducing myocardial iron. In this paper, we aim to systematically analyze the effectiveness of community based interventions (CBI) for the prevention and control of non-helminthic diseases including dengue, trypanosomiasis, chagas, leishmaniasis, buruli ulcer, leprosy and trachoma. We systematically reviewed literature published up to May 2013 and included 62 studies in this review. Findings from our review suggest that CBI including insecticide spraying; insecticide treated bednets and curtains; community education and cleanliness campaigns; chemoprophylaxis through mass drug administration; and treatment have the potential to reduce the incidence and burden of non-helminthic diseases. In 2012, an estimated 8.6 million people developed tuberculosis (TB) and 1.3 million died from the disease. With its recent resurgence with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV); TB prevention and management has become further challenging. We systematically evaluated the effectiveness of community based interventions (CBI) for the prevention and treatment of TB and a total of 41 studies were identified for inclusion. Findings suggest that CBI for TB prevention and case detection showed significant increase in TB detection rates (RR: 3.1, 95% CI: 2.92, 3.28) with non-significant impact on TB incidence. การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีจุดมุ่งหมายเพื่อศึกษาประสิทธิภาพการประมาณค่าพารามิเตอร์ผู้สอบสำหรับโมเดลการตอบสนองข้อสอบ ๑ พารามิเตอร์ด้วยข้อมูลจำลอง และศึกษาความสอดคล้องกลมกลืนระหว่างโมเดลกับข้อมูลเชิงประจักษ์ระหว่างการประมาณค่าด้วยโมเดลประมาณค่าพารามิเตอร์แบบอิทธิพล เจาะจงข้อสอบกับแบบอิทธิพลสุ่มข้อสอบ ๓ รูปแบบ คือ สุ่มผู้สอบ-เจาะจงข้อสอบ (RPFI), เจาะจงผู้สอบ-สุ่มข้อสอบ (FPRI) และสุ่มผู้สอบ-สุ่มข้อสอบ (RPRI) ข้อมูลจำลองจากโปรแกรม R และประมวลผลด้วยโปรแกรม WinBUGS ด้วยการเชื่อมโยงผ่านคำสั่ง R2WinBUGS package การจำลองข้อมูล ทั้งหมด ๔๘ เงื่อนไข (๔x๓x๔) ประกอบด้วย ลักษณะการแจกแจงก่อนหน้าของความยากข้อสอบ ๔ แบบ ความยาวของแบบทดสอบ ๓ ระดับ และจำนวนผู้สอบ ๔ ขนาดประสิทธิภาพของการประมาณค่า พารามิเตอร์ผู้สอบด้วยข้อมูลจำลองพิจารณาจากความคลาดเคลื่อนในการประมาณค่าพารามิเตอร์ และค่าเฉลี่ยความคลาดเคลื่อนกำลังสอง และความสอดคล้องกลมกลืนระหว่างโมเดลกับข้อมูลเชิงประจักษ์จากผลการสอบ O-Net วิชาภาษาอังกฤษ คณิตศาสตร์ และภาษาไทย ปีการศึกษา ๒๕๕๓ ของนักเรียนมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ ๖ พิจารณาจากค่าสถิติ Akaike Criterion (AIC) ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ๑)โมเดลการประมาณค่าพารามิเตอร์ผู้สอบรูปแบบ FPRI มีประสิทธิภาพใน การประมาณค่าสูงทื่สุด รองลงมาคือ RPFI และ RPRI ตามลำดับ ๒)โมเดลการประมาณค่าพารามิเตอร์ ผู้สอบรูปแบบ FPRI มีค่า AIC ตํ่าที่สุดทั้ง ๓ รายวิชาและในกลุ่มตัวอย่างทุกขนาดรองลงมาคือ RPFI และ RPRI ตามลำดับ

การวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพมีวัตถุประสงค์ ๑) เพื่อศึกษาบทบาท ลักษณะและรูปแบบ ความร่วมมือของกำนันผู้ใหญ่บ้านในการส่งเสริมความร่วมมือระหว่างท้องที่กับท้องถิ่นเพื่อพัฒนา ความเข้มแข็งของชุมชน ตลอดจนปัจจัยเงื่อนไขในการส่งเสริมความร่วมมือ ๒) เพื่อวิเคราะห์การจัดการความรู้ของกำนันผู้ใหญ่บ้านในการส่งเสริมความร่วมมือระหว่างท้องที่กับท้องถิ่นเพื่อพัฒนาความเข้มแข็งของชุมชน ผู้ให้ข้อมูลที่สำคัญประกอบด้วย ๑) ผู้บังคับบัญชา/กำกับดูแล ระดับอำเภอ จำนวน ๑๒ คน ๒) ผู้บริหาร/สมาชิกสภา และข้าราชการ/ลูกจ้างองค์การบริหารส่วนตำบล จำนวน ๒๐ คน ๓) กำนัน ผู้ใหญ่บ้าน จำนวน ๑๒ คน ๔) ผู้นำชุมชน/ผู้นำกลุ่มกิจกรรมต่างๆ จำนวน ๘ คน วิธีดำเนินการวิจัยใช้การศึกษาเอกสาร การสังเกตุแบบไม่มีส่วนร่วมและมีส่วนร่วม การสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก และการสนทนากลุ่ม สำหรับการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลใช้การวิเคราะห์เนื้อหา ผลการวิจัย พบว่า ๑) บทบาทความร่วมมือระหว่างท้องที่และท้องถิ่นเป็นบทบาทอย่างเป็นทางการตามที่กฎหมายระบุไว้ให้ทำร่วมกัน และบทบาทอย่างไม่เป็นทางการที่พึงปฏิบัติร่วมกันเพื่อก่อให้เกิดประโยชน์ต่อชุมชน ลักษณะความร่วมมือ ได้แก่ การวางแผน การลงมือปฏิบัติ และการติดตาม ประเมินผล โดยรูปแบบความร่วมมือ ประกอบด้วย รูปแบบการวางแผนการจัดตั้งกลุ่ม/กิจกรรม รูปแบบ การลงมือปฏิบัติหรือการขับเคลื่อน รูปแบบการติดตามส่งเสริมสนับสนุนหรือการแก้ไขปัญหาที่เกิดขึ้น ๒) การจัดการความรู้ในการส่งเสริมความร่วมมือ ประกอบด้วย การแสวงหาความรู้ การสร้างความรู้ การจัด เก็บความรู้ การนำความรู้ไปใช้ และการเรียนรู้และการแลกเปลี่ยนเรียนรู้ ซึ่งทั้งหมดมีความจำเป็นต่อการส่งเสริมความรู้ของกำนัน ผู้ใหญ่บ้าน ในการนำมาพัฒนาศักยภาพของตน เพื่อให้สามารถทำงานร่วมกับ ท้องถิ่นในการพัฒนาชุมชนให้เกิดความเข้มแข็ง
