The Thin Line Between Propaganda And Persuasion, Ryan Daniel Jenkins
The Thin Line Between Propaganda And Persuasion, Ryan Daniel Jenkins
Theses
In this paper, I discuss the line that divides propaganda and persuasion in relation to my thesis work, The Thin Line Between Propaganda and Persuasion. My intention is to show how easily images can transfer between propaganda and persuasion. I analyze this division between propaganda and persuasion by discussing propaganda as one-way communication process and persuasion as a two-way communication process. Then I discuss my relationship to photography, graffiti, and how my own work furthers the conversation of propaganda and persuasion in relation to other artists. In the next section, I contextualize my use of the database in parallel to …

A Model Of Contaminant Transport, Saline Valley Aquifer, Gallatin County Illinois, Ryan William Cox
Theses
The Saline Valley Conservancy District (SVCD) formed in 1980 to provide a stable source of water to many communities in Southern Illinois. The SVCD well field located in the thickest, most productive region of the Saline Valley Aquifer lies directly adjacent to a reclaimed coal mine. Subsurface movement and surface discharge from the mine has been shown to be responsible for deterioration of water quality in the surrounding area, including the aquifer. Previous studies conducted in the region have addressed water supply issues and simulated contaminant transport from the reclaimed mine. The limited scope of these models did not extend …

Flow Injection Analysis For The Photometric Determination Of Promethazine-Hcl In Pure And Pharmaceutical Preparation Via Oxidation By Persulphate Using Ayah 3sx3-3d Solar Micro Photometer, Issam M. A. Shakir, Nagam S. Turkey
Baghdad Science Journal
The first flow injection spectrophotometric method is characterized by its speed and sensitivity which have been developed for the determination of promethazine-HCl in pure and pharmaceutical preparation. It is based on the in situ detection of colored cationic radicals formed via oxidation of the drug with sodium persulphate to pinkish-red species and the same species was determined by using homemade Ayah 3SX3-3D solar flow injection photometer. Optimum conditions were obtained by using the high intensive green light emitted diode as a source. Linear dynamic range for the absorbance versus promethazine-HCl concentration was 0-7 mmol.L-1, with the correlation coefficient (r) was …

Charge transfer in styryl dyes STQ-1, STQ-2,and STQ-3 with organic media system has been studied theoretically depending on the Franck- Condon rule and continuum dielectric model . The reorientation energies λ(eV) were evaluated theoretically depending on dipole momentum, dielectric constant E , and refrective index n. The rate constant of charge transfer has been calculated depending on the reorientation energy λ(eV) ,effective free energy ΔG* , potential height barrier , and coupling coefficient Vel . A matlap program has been written to calculated the rate constant of charge transfer and other parameter. The results of calculations show that STQ-2 dye …

Institutional Presence, Johan Sulaeman, Chi Shen Wei
Institutional Presence, Johan Sulaeman, Chi Shen Wei
Research Collection Lee Kong Chian School Of Business
We propose an Institutional Presence (IP) measure to capture the latent role of non-owner institutional investors who nevertheless may be observing a firm. We employ this measure to examine whether the ‘presence’ of institutional investors reduces information asymmetry in the market. Firms in areas with high institutional presence experience higher liquidity, faster information incorporation, lower costs of equity capital, and less financing frictions relative to firms in low IP areas. The results hold after controlling for firm and geographical characteristics including institutional ownership and urban locality. Our findings indicate that being in the presence of institutional investors brings tangible benefits.

Humanistic Management: Agenda Outline, Jerzy Kociatkiewicz, Monika Kostera
European Management Studies
The humanistic turn in management is rapidly developing in the broader international academic context, as well as in Poland, where it even has acquired an official status as a specific academic discipline. However, there is a distinct paucity of published reflections on the links between management and the humanities and the legitimacy of the separation of a humanistic and economic approach to management. The article aims at launching the process of filling this gap by presenting the genesis and proposing characteristics and the main leading principles of humanistic management.

Management Of Value Co-Creation In The Media – From The Chain To The Constellations, Jan Kreft
Management Of Value Co-Creation In The Media – From The Chain To The Constellations, Jan Kreft
European Management Studies
The new challenge of previously passive recipients becoming actual users indicates the need for a change for media companies at the level of strategic management. The existing logic of value creation has become obsolete - product- and business-centric logic has been replaced with value creation as a result of network activity of the co-creators. At the same time, due to the erosion of boundaries of media companies, it is becoming necessary to coordinate management of relationship with the users as a part of the so-called constellation of users’ network. Those changes have evolutionary characteristics – new trends are accompanied by …

The CipA scaffoldin protein plays a key role in the Clostridium thermocellum cellulosome. Previous studies have revealed that mutants deficient in binding or solubilizing cellulose also exhibit reduced expression of CipA. To confirm that CipA is, in fact, necessary for rapid solubilization of crystalline cellulose, the gene was deleted from the chromosome using targeted gene deletion technologies. The CipA deletion mutant exhibited a 100-fold reduction in cellulose solubilization rate, although it was eventually able to solubilize 80% of the 5 g/liter cellulose initially present. The deletion mutant was complemented by a copy of cipA expressed from a replicating plasmid. In …
