The Chicago Community Trust Renews Grant For ‘One More Night’ Series, Office Of Marketing And Communications

For the second straight year, The Chicago Community Trust has awarded a $50,000 grant to Governors State University Center for Performing Arts. The grant will be used to support GSU Center’s “One More Night” series, which brings the best in Chicago-area live performance to local audiences in the Southland region served by Governors State University.
Under the terms of the grant, the Center for Performing Arts will introduce its audiences to Chicago-based theater, dance, and musical ensemble companies and develop new audiences through collaboration with diverse arts organizations. “One More Night” is designed to increase attendance from underserved communities, increase …

Portland's "Refugee From Occupied Hollywood": Andries Deinum, His Center For The Moving Image, And Film Education In The United States, Heather Oriana Petrocelli
Dissertations and Theses
Two years after Dutch émigré Andries Deinum was fired from the University of Southern California in 1955 for refusing to cooperate with the House Un-American Activities Committee, he moved to Portland, Oregon to teach film courses through the Portland Extension Center. By 1969 he had become integral to the local film community and had formed Portland State University's Center for the Moving Image (CMI), where he and Tom Taylor taught film history, criticism, and production for the next thirteen years. Although CMI was eliminated in 1981 as part of PSU's financial exigency, CMI's teachers and students have been a vital …

Journal of African Conflicts and Peace Studies
The current crisis in Eastern DRC calls for national and international commitment to be resolved. The author thinks that solution to the crisis implies responses to issues of identity, disarmament of armed groups and land related conflicts. According to the author, issues of governance and failure of peace and security institutions have to be considered as well. All those problems have to be discussed in order to reach durable solutions. Journal of African Conflicts and Peace Studies
The Nairobi Pact of October 15th, 2006 on Security, Stability and Development in the Great Lakes Region is achieved through long effort and process in the framework of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region. This paper attempts to highlight the conditions of its inception and formulation process. However, in order to go beyond the achievements in policy formulations, the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region requires a great commitment of leaders and peoples of the region as well as the international solidarity.
