Two-Factor Theory – At The Intersection Of Health Care Management And Patient Satisfaction, Josef Bohm Oct 2012

Two-Factor Theory – At The Intersection Of Health Care Management And Patient Satisfaction, Josef Bohm

Publications and Research

Using data obtained from the 2004 Joint Canadian/United States Survey of Health, an analytic model using principles derived from Herzberg’s motivational hygiene theory was developed for evaluating patient satisfaction with health care. The analysis sought to determine whether survey variables associated with consumer satisfaction act as Hertzberg factors and contribute to survey participants’ self-reported levels of health care satisfaction. To validate the technique, data from the survey were analyzed using logistic regression methods and then compared with results obtained from the two-factor model. The findings indicate a high degree of correlation between the two methods. The two-factor analytical methodology offers …

In celebration of New Mexico's centennial year, the 100 Years: Celebrating New Mexico's Health exhibit documented major health advancements and themes from the state's first century of statehood. Curated by Laura J. Hall, MFA, the exhibit was on display from 2012 to 2013 at the UNM Health Sciences Center. The Cooperative Fuels Research Engine: Applications For Education And Research, Christopher Brock, David L. Stanley Oct 2012

The Cooperative Fuels Research Engine: Applications For Education And Research, Christopher Brock, David L. Stanley

Journal of Aviation Technology and Engineering

Lead is currently banned from most gasoline because it is harmful to humans. While aviation gasoline still contains lead, this may change in the near future due to increased regulation in the interest of public safety. This has created a research opportunity to verify that new unleaded aviation fuels are compatible with equipment currently in use. The Cooperative Fuels Research (CFR) engine is designed for the controlled experimental testing of fuels involving spark-ignition, piston engines. The CFR engine enables scientists and engineers to ascertain engine performance as it relates to fuel, including heat content, detonation characteristics, and ultimately the fuel …

Incorporating Advanced Aircraft Technologies Into An Aeronautical Engineering Technology Curriculum, Timothy D. Ropp, Jay B. Hedden, Philip J. Mick, J. Michael Davis, S. Wesley Austin Jr.

Journal of Aviation Technology and Engineering

Researchers in the Aeronautical Engineering Technology program at Purdue University are exploring innovative ways to introduce and integrate aircraft maintenance data from their advanced training fleet of networked aircraft into an undergraduate Aviation curriculum. This report describes a work in progress toward that goal. This initiative will better prepare students for an industry where synthetic process visualization, drag and drop planning screens and ‘‘smart’’ personal computing device applications play a significant role in problem solving and daily aircraft operations. The goal is to equip students at all levels of the curriculum with awareness and modern methods of process visualization, troubleshooting …

Reconsidering And Re-Conceptualizing Kinesiology, T. G. Johnson Oct 2012

Reconsidering And Re-Conceptualizing Kinesiology, T. G. Johnson

Kinesiology Faculty Publications and Presentations

The purpose of this article is to delineate a more humanistic view of kinesiology by drawing on the rich, but often overlooked, phenomenology of movement literature (Arnold, 1979; Brown & Payne, 2009; Merleau-Ponty, 1962). Brown and Payne (2009) maintain that "phenomenology is a reaction against...the scientization of [kinesiology] that sees its conceptualization, contextualization, representation, and legitimation primarily as a science" (p. 423). By drawing on the work of Maurice Merleau-Ponty (1962) and Peter Arnold (1979), I argue that kinesiology is not only a scientific discipline charged with creating and disseminating scientifically-based knowledge, but also a field of study that encompasses …
