Strengthening Biblical Historicity Vis-À-Vis Minimalism, 1992-2008 And Beyond, Part 2.1: The Literature Of Perspective, Critique, And Methodology, First Half, Lawrence J. Mykytiuk
Libraries Faculty and Staff Scholarship and Research
This series of articles covers scholarly works in English which can, at least potentially, be associated with a positive view of biblical historicity regarding the periods preceding the Israelites’ return from exile. Part 2 covers works that treat the concepts and methodological issues at the center of the maximalist-minimalist debate. (Parts 3–5 will cover works on evidences.)
This article, the first half of Part 2, focuses on works that provide a framework in which there exists the realistic possibility for large amounts of Hebrew Scripture to stand as valid historical source material— while still subject to comparison with other sources. …

Virginia Transportation Funding: An Analysis Of Enhancing The Secondary Highway System Construction Allocation Model Using Brian D. Taylor’S Geographical Equity Criteria, Wendell Point
Theses and Dissertations
The focus of this research is Virginia’s Secondary Highway Construction System funding allocations and its impact on statewide deficient lane miles reduction. The research question guiding this study is: “Which of the four allocation models -- the current Secondary Highway System allocation model or one of three alternatives of this model based on Brian D. Taylor’s geographic equity categories (outcome, opportunity, and market) best maximizes statewide deficient lane miles reductions?” Taylor defines each of these geographic equity categories (independent variables for this study) for all levels of government. While Taylor’s research focus has been on equity as it relates to …
A Historical Review And Assessment Of Urban Heat Island Research In Singapore, Matthias Roth, Winston T. L. Chow
A Historical Review And Assessment Of Urban Heat Island Research In Singapore, Matthias Roth, Winston T. L. Chow
Research Collection School of Social Sciences
This historical review of 20 studies since the 1960s examines the influence of urban development on the thermal environment in Singapore, a fast growing tropical island city-state. Past observations are critically assessed with regard to experimental controls and station metadata. Given the availability of historical climate and developmental data spanning almost 50 years, changes in urban heat island (UHI) intensity and spatial coverage can be traced temporally. Rapid urban expansion in Singapore is clearly reflected in spatially and temporally changing air and surface temperature patterns. The nocturnal canopy-layer UHI intensity – measured as the difference between the commercial urban core …

Interview With Sergio Sanchez, Sergio Sanchez, California State University, Monterey Bay
Chinatown Renewal Project
Sergio Sanchez was born in Mexico City in 1966. He is one of seven children and was 13 when he first immigrated to the U.S. in 1979. In the beginning Mr. Sanchez talks briefly about his life in Mexico. His mother was a nurse and his father was a union contractor before coming to the United States. When his mother came in 1978, she came in as a replacement worker (scab). However, she left that line of work to join the union established by Cesar Chavez, as did his father in 1979. However, as the interview progressed, Mr. Sanchez shifted …
A Hybrid Bishop-Hill Model For Microstructure Sensitive Design, Ribeka Takahashi
A Hybrid Bishop-Hill Model For Microstructure Sensitive Design, Ribeka Takahashi
Theses and Dissertations
A method is presented for adapting the classical Bishop-Hill model to the requirements of elastic/yield-limited design in metals of arbitrary crystallographic texture. The proposed Hybrid Bishop-Hill (HBH) model, which will be applied to ductile FCC metals, retains the `stress corners' of the polyhedral Bishop-Hill yield surface. However, it replaces the `maximum work criterion' with a criterion that minimizes the Euclidean distance between the applicable local corner stress state and the macroscopic stress state. This compromise leads to a model that is much more accessible to yield-limited design problems. Demonstration of performance for the HBH model is presented for an extensive …

The Metropolitan Redevelopment Agency is a division of the City of Albuquerque's Planning Department. The agency manages rank three plans developed for communities which are designated 'slum and blighted' due to unhealthy, unsafe and overall perception of disinvestment in a community (MR Code 3-60A-2). In June, 2010, the Metropolitan Redevelopment Agency lost nearly all its staff due to retirements and a tight city budget, eight of the 10 employees of the division no longer worked for the city. That same year, four months later in October 2010, a ninth employee also retired, leaving one staff member for the entire division. …
Methods, Strategies, And Implementation Of Agricultural Preservation In The South Valley, New Mexico, Gonzales Moises
Methods, Strategies, And Implementation Of Agricultural Preservation In The South Valley, New Mexico, Gonzales Moises
Student Publications
The purpose of this plan is to formulate strategies to preserve agricultural land in the South Valley area of Bernalillo County. The project is intended to assist the Bernalillo County Planning Department by providing the SouthWest Area Plan Steering Committee with an understanding of the current agricultural conditions in the South Valley. The project is also intended to help the community to develop goals and strategies to preserve agriculture. Historically, the South Valley maintained itself as a self sufficient agricultural community until the early 1940s. Recently, the number of acres in agriculture had declines. Much of this decline has been …
