Florida Rainfall Climatology In Observations And Climate Model Simulations, Roque Vinicio Cespedes
Florida Rainfall Climatology In Observations And Climate Model Simulations, Roque Vinicio Cespedes
Open Access Theses
Under climate change, future hydroclimate impacts could occur that are well outside the extremes of current historical records. General circulation models (GCMs) predict that tropical precipitation will increase within convective zones, and decrease at the margins of the convective zones. Florida and most of the Caribbean are at the margins, and most GCMs predict that rainfall will decrease over Florida and the Caribbean. This drying signal is more pronounced during the boreal summer months (Florida’s rainy season). However, because of the insufficient resolution of the land-sea distribution of current GCMs, it is unclear what their predictions means for Florida. An …

Tuning In To The Needs Of International Students, Elizabeth Ramsey
Tuning In To The Needs Of International Students, Elizabeth Ramsey
Library Faculty Publications and Presentations
The objectives of this presentation were to increase awareness of the growing international student population at Boise State University and offer tips on how best to serve them. International students often have very different educational backgrounds which affect their perceptions of what the library can do for them. By being aware of the cultural differences and other barriers to effective communication, public services staff at the library may be better situated to help international students meet their educational goals.

Towards Integration: An Autoethnography On The Development Of Identity, Kanchana Henrich
Creative Arts Therapies Theses
This thesis is an autoethnography that explores my own experience of identity development. The intention of this research was to try and find an answer as to why I have not yet been able to develop a cohesive sense of self, in which I am able to accept and embody all of my seemingly disparate parts. I have thus far in my life felt scattered, and unable to accept both the cultures into which I was born, as well as the cultures to which I am organically drawn. Through introspection, reflective writing, and interviewing family members, I have been able …

A Gap Analysis Of Nursing Systems And Practices In Malaysia: Culturally Appropriate Interventions To Advance Nursing, Chenit Ong-Flaherty
Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Projects
This project comprises a gap analysis of differences between American and Malaysian nursing programs, and additionally, proposes culturally appropriate interventions for Malaysian nursing to adopt American nursing models. The gap analysis was conducted on nursing systems and practices in Malaysia undertaken to identify the differences between Malaysian and American nursing, and the influences that affect Malaysian nursing. The aim is to facilitate the use of the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Pathway to Excellence Practice Standard #4: Orientation Prepares New Nurses for the Work Environment, and #6: Professional Development is Provided and Used. The proposal of culturally appropriate interventions as …

A Yeast Gsk-3 Kinase Mck1 Promotes Cdc6 Degradation To Inhibit Dna Re-Replication, Amy E. Ikui, Valentina Rossio, Lea Schroeder, Satoshi Yoshida
Publications and Research
Cdc6p is an essential component of the pre-replicative complex (pre-RC), which binds to DNA replication origins to promote initiation of DNA replication. Only once per cell cycle does DNA replication take place. After initiation, the pre-RC components are disassembled in order to prevent re-replication. It has been shown that the N-terminal region of Cdc6p is targeted for degradation after phosphorylation by Cyclin Dependent Kinase (CDK). Here we show that Mck1p, a yeast homologue of GSK-3 kinase, is also required for Cdc6 degradation through a distinct mechanism. Cdc6 is an unstable protein and is accumulated in the nucleus only during G1 …
