Development Of Brain Abscess At The Exact Site Of A Previous Intracerebral Hematoma: A Casereport, Yi-Yen Chu, Shu-Huan Lin, Tyng-Guey Wang

Brain abscess is a neurological emergency that requires immediate high-dose antibiotics or surgical intervention. Brain abscess at the site of a previous hemorrhagic stroke that did not receive surgical intervention is rare. Here, we report the case of a 48-year-old man who developed a brain abscess as infective transformation of a preceding right putaminal hemorrhage, 22 days after the stroke. The patient recovered after surgical treatment and systemic antibiotics therapy. An abscess culture test revealed the presence of Group D Salmonella, which has never been reported in a case of brain abscess. A comprehensive literature reviewarticle was performed. We concluded …

Macrodystrophia lipomatosa is a rare congenital anomaly of localized gigantism, characterized by progressive overgrowth of all mesenchymal components, particularly fibroadipose tissue. The anomaly occurs frequently in the distribution regions of the median nerve in the upper extremity and the plantar nerve in the lower extremity. It is usually noticed at birth with predominately unilateral distal involvement of the digits. The cause of this condition is still unknown. Physicians use the patient's clinical history, physical examination, and imaging techniques to diagnose the condition, with characteristic imaging findings revealing macrodactyly with hypertrophy of the soft tissue and osseous structures. This study aims to examine the effect of interdependence mechanisms of corporate governance on company performance (Agrawal and Knoeber 1996). These mechanisms are: managerial ownership, institutional ownership, independent commissioner, board size, debt policy, dividend policy, market concentration, and market share with the control variables are growth, size, and firm ages. Test results on 349 firm-years using OLS regression for each mechanism and 2SLS regression for simultaneous testing indicate the presence of interdependence between the mechanisms. both parsial and simultanously; managerial ownership and dividend policy does not significantly influence on the banking efficiency. This research aims to examine the factors that influence auditor’s job satisfaction, the effects of job satisfaction on performance and turnover intentions, and how far the performances moderate the relationship between job satisfaction and turnover intention. The unit of analysis from this study is an auditor who works on a public accounting firm. Results showed that in small accounting firms, only consideration leadership style affects auditor’s satisfaction, while in big accounting firms, leadership style and structure leadership style have affected auditor’s satisfaction. University course timetabling is the problem of scheduling resources such as lecturers, courses, and rooms to a number of timeslots over a planning horizon, normally a week, while satisfying a number of problem-specific constraints. Since timetabling problems differ from one institution to another, this paper investigated the case of the University of Dar Es salaam, based on the combination of Simulated Annealing (SA), and steepest descent in a two-phase approach. Solutions have been generated which greatly outperform the manually generated ones. Anthropogenic Disturbance On The Vegetation In Makurunge Woodland, Bagamoyo District, Tanzania, C. Mligo, C. Mligo

Makurunge woodland is part of the major vegetation component covering coastal forest landscape in Tanzania that has been severely affected by anthropogenic disturbance. The present study determined the effects of anthropogenic disturbance on biomass, diversity, plant communities and plant species distribution pattern using nested sample plots systematically established along transects. Six major vegetation communities with different biomass were found. Plant species diversity ranged from 2.5 to 3.3 and was high in scrub forests, riverine and thicketed habitats, although the difference among these habitats was not significant (P>0.05). Plants like other living organisms respond differently under different environmental conditions. An elevated level of heavy metals is one of the stresses which results into three classes of plants depending on their heavy metal content. The classes of plant species according to their accumulated heavy metals around North Mara Gold Mine were not known. To study such classes, a line transect of 700m long was established opposite the gold mine wastes. The effect of glycol and heat on some clay minerals of the eastern southern region of Lake Victoria in Tanzania has been studied. First, Whole Rock Powder mount XRD analysis was carried out at the measuring range 2 # ranging between 2o – 65o. Four non-clay minerals found in samples were Na-feldspar, K-feldspar, pyrope and quartz. Oriented clay mineral XRD analysis diffractograms were developed when the air-dried samples were diffracted in measuring range 2# between 2oo – 32o. This threat is both ubiquitous and potentially catastrophic as recently demonstrated by both the recent decision by the UK to prioritize cyber capabilities over putting in service an air-capable aircraft carrier and the targeted effectiveness of the STUXNET worm. According to contemporary philosopher Daniel Dennett, “religions are among the most powerful natural phenomena on the planet.” Teasing out the broader implications of religion is difficult due to its subjective, experiential nature. However, progress is not impossible, and this paper examines religion through the lens of the 20th century thinker Jacques Lacan. First, a basic overview is given of Lacanian psychoanalytic theory. A Closer Look At The Relationship Between Superstitious Behaviors And Trait Anxiety, Brandy Futrell

This study examines the relationship between superstitious behaviors and trait anxiety. Researchers randomly selected participants from college campuses for a 28-question survey measuring superstitiousness and the 20-question State-Trait-Anxiety-Inventory (STAI) to measure symptoms of anxiety. Results show a positive correlation between superstitious behaviors and an increase in anxiety symptoms. Significant gender differences were found; women scored higher on superstitiousness survey and the STAI-X2 test. Superstitious behaviors were a significant indicator for developing trait anxiety.
