Instrumental Variable Estimation Of A Spatial Autoregressive Panel Model With Random Effects, Badi Baltagi, Long Liu
Instrumental Variable Estimation Of A Spatial Autoregressive Panel Model With Random Effects, Badi Baltagi, Long Liu
Economics - All Scholarship
This paper extends the instrumental variable estimators of Kelejian and Prucha (1998) and Lee (2003) proposed for the cross-sectional spatial autoregressive model to the random effects spatial autoregressive panel data model. It also suggests an extension of the Baltagi (1981) error component 2SLS estimator to this spatial panel model.

16 - SHAPING THE FUTURE by Adolfo Nicolas, S.J. What can Jesuit universities do-together-to make the world a more humane, just, and sustainable place? It starts with imagination, an unequaled global network, and a conference in Mexico City- where Jesuit Superior General Adolfo Nicolas takes stock of challenges to Jesuit higher education today.

Transformations
Scholars' Day was established in 1997 and is a day-long conference devoted to showcasing the wide array of scholarship, research and creative activities occurring on campus. In 2012, a new emphasis on student research lead to a name change to Transformations: A Student Research and Creativity Conference. This event focuses on student research, which is defined as an original investigation or creative activity through the primary efforts of a student or group of students. The work should show problem-solving skills and demonstrate new conceptual outcomes.

Many who smoke in college do so infrequently and smoking conditions are not well-understood. We examined smoking patterns among college fraternity and sorority members (N=207) from a Midwestern university in three successive fall semesters in 2006–2008. Participants completed calendar-assisted retrospective assessments of 30-day smoking at up to 5 assessment points over 96 days. Overall smoking rates declined over the course of each semester and higher smoking on weekends was observed, with more variability among daily smokers. The most frequent categories of events to cue recall of smoking were socializing, work, and school. Findings can be used to target prevention efforts.

Increasing Youth Safety And Responsible Behavior Online: Putting In Place Programs That Work., Lisa M. Jones, David Finkelhor
Crimes Against Children Research Center
Hundreds of programs are being developed to promote safe and responsible online behavior among youth. They are being successfully marketed and eagerly adopted because of their appealing content, exciting graphics, engaging games, catchy phrases and cool characters. But that is not enough. The bottom line for everyone to remember -- funders, program developers, communities, schools, and families -- is that these programs need to actually work. They need to change youth attitudes and inspire youth to make smart and ethical choices about how they behave online. If programs are not doing this, then no matter how beautiful the graphics or …

The Writing Center Annual Report: 2010-2011, Kelly Webster
The Writing Center: Reports
During the 2010-2011 academic year, The Writing Center, an Office for Student Success department, answered President Engstrom’s call for a “spirit of discourse” on the University of Montana campus. Writing Center staff engaged students in intellectual conversations, challenging students to develop as writers and thinkers who contribute to local and global conversations. Toward this end, The Writing Center (TWC) sustained its one-to-one tutoring services and implemented new initiatives aimed at improving student writing across the curriculum. These 2010-2011 academic year activities responded to and engendered student and faculty demand for TWC’s services as evidenced by TWC’s facilitation of 3,852 tutoring …

The Works Of Jürgen Habermas: A Tool For Further Understanding The Theory And Practice Of Restorative Justice, Audrey Laurel Barrett
The Works Of Jürgen Habermas: A Tool For Further Understanding The Theory And Practice Of Restorative Justice, Audrey Laurel Barrett
LLM Theses
The theory of restorative justice has always lagged behind practice. As such, gaps in theory have existed over time and continue to exist today, particularly in terms of explaining "the magic" that occurs within the encounter process. By exploring the theories of Jürgen Habermas, it is suggested that new frameworks can be developed that can help theorists think about, and explain the experiences and outcomes central to restorative processes. This paper focuses on Habermas' theory of universal pragmatics and communicative action as a means to better understand the mechanisms within the encounter process, and the conditions necessary, to give rise …
