Dsm Super Vector Space Of Refined Labels, Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy

Branch Mathematics and Statistics Faculty and Staff Publications

In this book authors for the first time introduce the notion of supermatrices of refined labels. Authors prove super row matrix of refined labels form a group under addition. However super row matrix of refined labels do not form a group under product; it only forms a semigroup under multiplication. In this book super column matrix of refined labels and m × n matrix of refined labels are introduced and studied. We mainly study this to introduce to super vector space of refined labels using matrices. We in this book introduce the notion of semifield of refined labels using which …

Work-Related Stress Among Librarians And Information Professionals In A Nigerian University, Emmanuel Babatunde Ajala Jan 2011

Work-Related Stress Among Librarians And Information Professionals In A Nigerian University, Emmanuel Babatunde Ajala

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

Workers all over the world face stress. A Nigerian worker has many stress factors in the workplace. Life expectancy is dropping in an alarming rate, from 51.56 to 47.44, between the years 2000 and 2007. The library and information professions have become high stress. An anthropological approach was adopted to look at stress among librarians in the University of Ibadan Library System in Nigeria, using group and individual interviews as a data collection instrument. There were no significant differences between male and the female workers in their perception if workplace stress. Factors of stress in the library include work environment, …

Thermal, Electrical, And Structural Behavior Of Silver Chalcogenide Composites, Jeremy Capps Jan 2011

Thermal, Electrical, And Structural Behavior Of Silver Chalcogenide Composites, Jeremy Capps

All Theses

In this thesis and the contained publications, it is demonstrated that it is not only possible to improve the dimensionless figure of merit (ZT) of silver chalcogenide composites, but it is also possible to move the maximum ZT value into a more favorable temperature range for power production. It is shown that by introducing disorder, stress, and phase competition into a system, a reduction in the material's thermal conductivity can be realized. The binaries Ag2Te and Ag2Se are re-examined in detail before moving on to examine Ag2Te1-xSex composites. The maximum ZT (ZT = 0.92) of Ag2Te0.5Se0.5 is measured at T= …

Physical Process Models As Regularization Constraints On Geophysical Imaging Problems, Rachel Grotheer Jan 2011

Physical Process Models As Regularization Constraints On Geophysical Imaging Problems, Rachel Grotheer

All Theses

Obtaining accurate images of solute plumes in the subsurface is important to understand site-specific subsurface flow and transport processes. Since image reconstruction is an inverse problem, its ill-posed nature makes obtaining an accurate, high-resolution image difficult. Further, current geophysical methods for plume imaging do not take into account models of the specific process being targeted for imaging.
The main objective of the research is to find a suitable basis that gives a sparse representation of the plume. In future work, we seek to use this basis as a physical constraint during the inversion so as to increase accuracy in imaging. …

Cloning, Expression Analysis, And Transformation Vector Construction Of Dam Homologs In Peach And Poplar, Yuhui Xie Jan 2011

Cloning, Expression Analysis, And Transformation Vector Construction Of Dam Homologs In Peach And Poplar, Yuhui Xie

All Theses

Genetic fine mapping and sequencing of the EVG locus in peach [Prunus persica (L.) Batsch] identified six tandem arrayed Dormancy-Associated MADS-box (DAM) genes as candidates for regulating growth cessation and terminal bud formation in the non-dormant evergrowing (evg) mutant. Since the mutant is lacking expression of six genes in the mapped locus, further functional analysis is needed to narrow the list of gene candidates for the non-dormant evg phenotype. Here I report three sets of experiments designed to functionally test DAM genes in peach and their homologs in a model tree, hybrid poplar.
First I constructed overexpression and knockdown vectors …

The Feasibility Of Using Bifidobacteria Bifidum (Atcc 700541) For The Production Of Prebiotic Oligosaccharides, Candice Marie Luehrs Jan 2011

The Feasibility Of Using Bifidobacteria Bifidum (Atcc 700541) For The Production Of Prebiotic Oligosaccharides, Candice Marie Luehrs

Masters Theses

"Galactooligosaccharides (GOS) are prebiotics that are being used to influence intestinal microbiota towards health promoting, beneficial bacteria like bifidobacteria. Natural sources of GOS are not found in suitable levels to achieve the desired health effects so economically viable commercial production methods are important. Enzymatic conversion of lactose to GOS through transgalactosylation is a preferred method since the starting material is inexpensive and readily available. Enzymes used in batch production are purified from fungal or bacterial sources or remain in whole cells cultured for GOS production. Purified or unbound enzymes are single use whereas enzymes retained within whole cells can potentially …

Texas Annual Survey: Securities Regulation, George Lee Flint Jr Jan 2011

Texas Annual Survey: Securities Regulation, George Lee Flint Jr

Faculty Articles

Securities law opinions under Texas law during this period can be divided into two groups. The first group deals with various fraudulent schemes targeted by the Board. The "free lunch" scam, aimed at senior investors, surfaced in Head v. State where the scammer lost the appeal because the evidence clearly confirmed his failure to inform investors. In Navarro v. Grant Thornton, LLP investors failed in their aiding and abetting lawsuit against the accountants because, absent contact between the accountants and investors, the accountants had no duty to whistleblow to regulators or investors.

The second group involves incompetent lawyers. In S&D …

The Measure of Injury is an intellectual tour de force of gender and race-based jurisprudence applied to critical issues in the law of torts. In this volume, Martha Chamallas and Jennifer B. Wriggins shed light on numerous issues related to law governing accidents and intentional injuries, while offering insights into the American tort system and the challenges it faces.

Chamallas and Wriggins draw upon the feminist theory, critical race theory, and general critical theory in analyzing tort doctrines and evaluating potential reforms. The authors explore how racial perceptions can distort even seemingly neutral inquiries, such as those related to factual …

The Mystery Of Life In The Laboratory Of Democracy: Personal Autonomy In State Law, Adam J. Macleod Jan 2011

The Mystery Of Life In The Laboratory Of Democracy: Personal Autonomy In State Law, Adam J. Macleod

Faculty Articles

Recent controversies, such as enactment of an individual mandate to purchase health insurance and the legalization of assisted suicide in Washington and Montana, have renewed the war over personal autonomy. Debates about the value and limits of personal autonomy also play major roles in the controversies over abortion, same-sex intimacy, and same-sex marriage. On one side of the autonomy war, advocates of unfettered individual freedom assert that by her un-coerced and autonomous choice, the individual person determines the value of human goods such as life, health, and marriage.

On the other side, proponents of strong government restrictions on personal choice …
