To monitor and protect the power system the energy flow is to be measure. To connect a meter, relay or other current sensing device in series with a large current source would be impractical. Current Transformer is a device that has been around for a long time and will monitor the electrical power system. The current transformer is measuring device to determine current flow in a power system. For the reliable and correct operation of the protection relays, the current transformer has to be carefully chosen.

Synthesis Of High Surface Area Supported Copper Based-Bimetallic Catalysts For Hydrogenation Of Fatty Alcohols To Fatty Amines / Normazuin Abdul Rahman, Abdul Rahman Normazuin

Student Works (2010-2019)

Over the past few decades it has been observed that copper (Cu) ‘supported on’ or ‘incorporated into’ solid matrices are widely used as catalysts for various types of reactions. It was reported that the high activity of supported Cu catalyst is generated by properties of the clusters and nanoparticles including high dispersion and uniform distribution of nanoparticle Cu on the support material. All these factors exert a direct effect on the formation of active surface of Cu and their catalytic properties accordingly. In this study, Cu based catalysts supported on silica, SiO2 were prepared by incipient wetness impregnation of SiO2 …

How Predictable Is The Chinese Stock Market?, Fuwei Jiang, Jun Tu, David Rapach, Jack K. Strauss, Guofu Zhou

Research Collection Lee Kong Chian School Of Business

We analyze return predictability for the Chinese stock market index and its components sorted on industry, size, book-to-market and ownership concentration, with both in-sample and out-of-sample tests. We find significant predictability. Among industry portfolios, Finance and insurance, Real estate, and Manufacturing exhibit the most predictability, while small-cap, low book-to-market ratio and low ownership concentration firms also display considerable predictability. The conditional CAPM model largely accounts for component predictability, and industry concentration significantly explain differences in return predictability across industries, consistent with the information-flow frictions emphasized by Hong, Torous, and Valkanov (2007).

International Entrepreneurship And Capability Development: Qualitative Evidence And Future Research Directions, Erkko Autio, Gerard George, Oliver Alexy

Research Collection Lee Kong Chian School Of Business

In this article, we explore how new capabilities emerge and solidify in new ventures that are faced with fundamental uncertainty from their environment. To do so, we draw from the organizational and entrepreneurial literature on cognition and capabilities. Using initial qualitative evidence from a multi-firm study in the context of new venture internationalization, we develop a cognition-based model of capability emergence in new ventures. Our findings extend the capability development and learning implications of internationalization to the fundamental character of organizing processes in start-ups. Moreover, we derive avenues for future entrepreneurship research on the origins and evolution of capabilities in …

The Business Model In Practice And Its Implications For Entrepreneurship Research, Gerard George, Adam J. Bock

Research Collection Lee Kong Chian School Of Business

While the term 'business model' has gained widespread use in the practice community, the academic literature on this topic is fragmented and confounded by inconsistent definitions and construct boundaries. In this study, we review prior research and reframe the business model with an entrepreneurial lens. We report on a discourse analysis of 151 surveys of practicing managers to better understand their conceptualization of a business model. We find that the underlying dimensions of the business model are resource structure, transactive structure, and value structure, and discuss the nature and implications of dimensional dominance for firm characteristics and behavior. These findings …

Global Transformations, Local Activism: “New” Unionism’S Engagement With Economic And Health Care Transformation In Urban Central Appalachia, Rebecca Adkins Fletcher

University of Kentucky Doctoral Dissertations

It has long been argued that the organization of the U.S. health care system is shaped by the struggles between capital and labor, and this relationship is of increasing significance today. Transformations from an industrial to a service economy, rising insurance costs, neoliberal social policies, and decreased labor union power have increased the number of Americans with reduced access to health care, especially for service workers and women. This dissertation is an ethnographic study of how workers in two leading unions in the “new” unionism movement, the Retail, Wholesale, and Distribution Service Union (RWDSU) and the United Steelworkers (USW) in …
