A professional course like engineering strives to get maximum number of its students placed through campus interviews. While communication skills have been added in all the engineering courses with the aim to improve their performance in placement, the syllabus mostly concentrates on the development of four language skills. Journal of Health Ethics
This paper reviews the ethical tensions and the dual loyalty conflict between following military orders and professional codes of conduct. All competent patients have a right to refuse medical treatment. However, maintaining confidentiality is not an absolute right. In the military, a doctor may have a dual loyalty conflict between obeying military orders and following professional codes of practice. This can become exacerbated when a doctor in a military environment does not consider all the parties’ interests. This paper suggests that dual loyalty conflict in military healthcare practice in this environment is best managed via a discretionary ethic-role. This then …

The Ethics Issues Of Nuclear Energy: Hard Lessons Learned From Chernobyl And Fukushima, Hui Xiang, Yi Zhu
Journal of Health Ethics
The Japan nuclear disaster once again raised the ethical issues of nuclear energy programs. Nuclear energy is considered as a sustainable energy source that reduces green house gas emission and produces far less wastes than conventional energy. On the other hand, nuclear fuel and wastes are highly radioactive, posing many threats to public health and the environment. Nuclear accidents are catastrophic and have a far-reaching impact on global health. Based on the ethical principles of utilitarilism, nonmaleficence, beneficence, justice, disclosure, and autonomy, mankind needs to take a more stringent approach on nuclear programs. Coming To Terms With Family Of Origin Issues And Relationship Satisfaction For Native American Individuals In Committed Intimate Relationships, Krystal Cobell Dagley

This study examined the relationships between childhood family of origin (FOO) adversities, coming to terms with them, and adult intimate relationship satisfaction for Native American individuals. The sample consisted of 186 Native American individuals in committed relationships who responded to the RELATionship Evaluation (RELATE). Among the items in the questionnaire were measures of childhood FOO adversity, whether respondents had come to terms with FOO problems, relationship quality and depression. Results from structural equation modeling indicated that coming to terms buffered the negative effects of childhood family of origin adversities on depression and relationship quality. Feeding Habits Of The Egyptian Fruit Batrousettus Aegyptiacus On Cyprus Island: A Firstassessment, Maria Alessandra Del Vaglio, Haris Nicolau, Luciano Bosso

Rousettus aegyptiacus is the only fruit bat occurring in Europe. A dramatic, poorly understood decline was recently reported for the important population occurring on the island of Cyprus (Eastern Mediterranean). Assessing diet in this population is important to tailor appropriate conservation measures and help mitigate conflicts with farming. In this study, we present a first assessment of diet for the Cyprus population, mainly based on the occurrence of fruit remains in droppings. We analyzed 222 droppings (corresponding to 281 food items) collected at two cave roosts over three seasons. We identified 11 plant species from 8 families. Melia azedarach, Morus …
