We consider a topological space ⟨𝑋, 𝜏 (ℱ)⟩, where 𝑋 = {𝑝 ∗} ∪ [𝜔 Å~ 𝜔] and ℱ ⊆ 𝜔𝜔. Each point in 𝜔 Å~ 𝜔 is isolated and a neighborhood of 𝑝∗ has the form {𝑝∗}∪{⟨𝑖, 𝑗⟩ : 𝑖 ≥ 𝑛, 𝑗 ≥ 𝑓(𝑖)} for some 𝑛 ∈ 𝜔 and 𝑓 ∈ ℱ. We show that there are subsets ℱ and 𝒢 of 𝜔𝜔 such that ℱ is not bounded, 𝒢 is bounded, yet ⟨𝑋, 𝜏 (ℱ)⟩ and ⟨𝑋, 𝜏 (𝒢)⟩ are homeomorphic. Background AIDS continues to be the leading cause of death in South Africa. Little is known about the experiences of mothers who have lost a young child to AIDS. The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore the attitudes and experiences of women who had lost a young child to HIV/AIDS in KwaZulu-Natal Province, South Africa.

Methods In-depth interviews were conducted with 10 women who had lost a child to AIDS. The average age of the deceased children was six years. Interviews were also conducted with 12 key informants to obtain their perspectives on working with women who had …

Many historical issues surround the late Nineteenth Dynasty after the reign of Merneptah, and one of them is the reigns reigns of Amenmesse and Seti II. These two kings ruled over a period in which both Amenmesse and Seti Ii were competing kings with evidence suggesting that Amenmesse founded a rival kingship during the reign of Seti II and managed to control ancient Nubia and Upper Egypt for at least four years. This dissertation seeks to examine the known monuments and monumental inscriptions belonging to Amenmesse and Seti II in order to answer historical, archaeological, genealogical, and epigraphic questions pertaining …

Eric Faulconer Named NSCAA Southeast Region Coach of the Year. Armstrong Atlantic State University head women's soccer coach Eric Faulconer has been named the 2010 NSCAA/Mondo Southeast Regional Coach of the Year, announced Thursday by the organization. The honor is the third for Faulconer in his six years at the helm of the Armstrong women's soccer program as well as his fourth region coach of the year honor overall.

ISSUE

Climate change interacts with and can often amplify the negative impacts of invasive species. These interactions are not fully appreciated or understood. They can result in threats to critical ecosystem functions on which our food system and other essential provisions and services depend as well as increase threats to human health. The Invasive Species Advisory Committee to the National Invasive Species Council recognizes the Administration’s commitment to dealing proactively with global climate change. However, unless we recognize and act on the impact of climate change and its interaction with ecosystems and invasive species, we will fall further behind in …

Speech-Language Pathologists' Application Of Learning Styles During Clinical Intervention, Crystal Mcdaniel

This study examined the preferred modes of learning and teaching of speech-language pathologists (SLPs). The purpose of the study was to determine if SLPs' learning style influences their delivery of therapeutic intervention. Using the Visual, Aural, Read-Write, and Kinesthetic (VARK) questionnaire and observation of SLPs during clinical intervention, the preferred mode(s) of learning and teaching for nine SLPs was determined. Results indicated that study participants did not prefer one particular mode of learning over another, nor were there significant differences in their teaching style. In addition results indicated that SLPs' preferred mode(s) of learning and teaching were independent of one …

Effects of Locally-Available Soil Amendments on Water and Soil Quality It is important to feed and fuel our growing population in sustainable ways that maximize available resources and minimize negative environmental impacts. Locally-available soil amendments including municipal biosolids, food industry effluent, and pelletized poultry litter were evaluated in this study to measure potential soil and water quality effects. A greenhouse microcosm study involving a potential biofuel crop, Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench, was conducted using these soil amendments. Leachate from the microcosms was analyzed for nitrate, nitrite, and orthophosphate. Soils from the microcosms were analyzed for carbon, nitrogen, active carbon, and …

Founded in 2006 in Pocahontas, Arkansas, the Randolph County of Oral History (RCAOH) sough to collect the stories of Randolph County's elderly residents in conjunction with the Pocahontas sesquicentennial celebration. After the formation of the Randolph County Heritage Museum (RCHM), the RCAOH was placed under its care. The success of programs and displays developed at the RCHM overshadowed the RCAOH. Forgotten, it was left virtually unattended. Attempting to salvage the program, Clements used the Oral History Association's Oral History and Evaluation Guidelines to analyze the condition of the RCAOH.
