The purpose of this thesis is to identify the effects of a single session of dance/movement therapy (DMT) for crisis stabilization with adults in a short-term residential facility. Over the course of 14 weeks (14 sessions) surveys were administered before and after each session to participants who were new to the group. These surveys, along with the researcher’s observations and written notes about the group were collected in order to gain information about the participants’ experience of symptoms and wellbeing before and after the group. Context. We present a new primary transit observation of the hot-jupiter HD 189733b, obtained at 3.6 μm with the Infrared Array Camera (IRAC) onboard the Spitzer Space Telescope. Previous measurements at 3.6 microns suffered from strong systematics, and conclusions could hardly be obtained with confidence on the water detection by comparison of the 3.6 and 5.8 microns observations.

Aims. We aim at constraining the atmospheric structure and composition of the planet and improving previously derived parameters.

U.S. public opinion regarding climate change has become increasingly polarized in recent years, as partisan think tanks and others worked to recast an originally scientific topic into a political wedge issue. Nominally “scientific” arguments against taking anthropogenic climate change seriously have been publicized to reach informed but ideologically receptive audiences. Reflecting the success of such arguments, polls have noted that concern about climate change increased with education among Democrats, but decreased with education among Republicans. These observations lead to the hypothesis that there exist interaction (non-additive) effects between education or knowledge and political orientation, net of other background factors, in …

The present invention is directed to novel contact sensors. The contact sensors of the invention include a conductive composite material formed of a polymer and a conductive filler. In one particular embodiment, the composite materials can include less than about 10 wt % conductive filler. Thus, the composite material of the contact sensors can have physical characteristics essentially identical to the polymer, while being electrically conductive with the electrical resistance proportional to the load on the sensor. The study examines incidences of domestic violence in several communities, police statistics and attitudes of medical professionals. Findings suggest a fundamental ethical dilemma in services for victims of domestic violence: medical professionals view domestic violence as a law enforcement issue, while police view it as a health issue. Victims are confronted by multiple systems each with opposing beliefs and attitudes about their respective roles.

The imbalance of Medicare financing and cost sharing consumption is rooted in the Medicare tax collection and its main purpose to serve the aged population. The unfairness of Medicare tax collection includes its regressivity for all income levels and the incomplete tax collection among income groups. Those suffering from premature death, especially black males, lose the chance to enjoy longevity and the coverage of Medicare. This invention provides a novel method for purifying synthetic oligomers comprising capping, polymerizing and separating any failure sequences produced during oligomer synthesis. Either the failure sequence or the full-length oligomer may be polymerized. Optionally, small molecule impurities may also be incorporated into the polymerized material. The invention provides novel capping agents having a polymerizable functional group. The invention also provides kits comprising at least one composition of the present invention.
