Hermeneutic is originally derived from Greek term Hermeneuein, this term was Hermeneutikos which contains three basic meanings, which are, revelation, explanation and interpretation. These meanings came to existence as hermeneutic is applied in studying the Koran in the 19th century, but then tensions arise between Muslim scholars as to which definition is deemed appropriate. Stringent clampdowns since the 1979 revolution have signified a sociopolitical change that has endured for three decades.
