Librarians On Demand: Offering Instruction And Reference Services Anytime They Want It And Anywhere They Want It, Angiah Davis, Carla Fredd, Kimberley Bugg

Georgia International Conference on Information Literacy

The Robert W. Woodruff Library of the Atlanta University Center is privileged to be the sole library for four distinguished Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU): Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, Spelman College and the Interdenominational Theological Center. This role can also be a challenge when trying to reach students and faculty in all the campuses since the physical building of the library is not centrally located. With the help of technology and a few campus contacts, Woodruff librarians are taking their reference services to where the researchers are – on campus. Faculty and or campus staff select a time …

Grain Sorghum Opportunities For The Future, Stephen C. Mason Oct 2010

Grain Sorghum Opportunities For The Future, Stephen C. Mason

INTSORMIL Presentations

Contains statistics about sorghum growing in the United States and world wide, with a focus on Nebraska.

Grain sorghum is an important crop worldwide, but has become a minor crop in Nebraska

Largely replaced by maize and soybean as major commodity crops

Small investment in research in both private and public sectors

Yield has increased more slowly for grain sorghum than for other crops

Modern maize hybrids and soybean varieties have increased stress tolerance, thus reducing this advantage of grain sorghum

Management is easier for corn and soybean than for sorghum – particularly weed control

Grain sorghum has lower cost …

Wow Cafe Theater Unveils 30th Anniversary Festival After Three Decades, Fierce Performers Prove The Show Will Go On, Esther Zinn

Center for LGBTQ Studies (CLAGS)

WOW Cafe Theater, a collective for female and and trans performance artists, strutted its stuff during its Pearl festival in May by celebrating thirty years of producing risk-taking, genre-defying theatre during the entire month of May 2010. Featuring more than twenty performances and fifty artists spanning a broad spectrum of music, dance, and multi-media, the Pearl festival was arguably the biggest and longest running theatrical event for women in New York during this summer, made possible by a generous grant from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.

Lesbians In The 1970s, Sarah Chinn

Center for LGBTQ Studies (CLAGS)

The 1970s was a period of intense excitement, change, activism, and activity for lesbians. As lesbian feminism redefined what qualified as a "political issue" and challenged every assumption about gender, race, class, ability, sexuality, and any number of other social categories, lesbians of all kinds created cultural, social, political, economic, and regional organizations and networks.

Oga Inhibition By Glcnac-Selenazoline, E. J. Kim, D. C. Love, E. Darout, M. Abdo, B. Rempel, S. G. Withers, Paul R. Rablen, J. A. Hanover, S. Knapp

Chemistry & Biochemistry Faculty Works

The title compound, which differs from the powerful O-GlcNAcase (OGA) inhibitor GlcNAc-thiazoline only at the chalcogen atom (Se for S), is a much weaker inhibitor in a direct OGA assay. In human cells, however, the selenazoline shows comparable ability to induce hyper-O-GlcNAc-ylation, and the two show similar reduction of insulin-stimulated translocation of glucose transporter 4 in differentiated 3T3 adipocytes. Molecular Analysis Expands The Spectrum Of Phenotypes Associated With Gli3 Mutations, Jennifer J. Johnston, Julie C. Sapp, Joyce T. Turner, David Tilstra Md Oct 2010

Molecular Analysis Expands The Spectrum Of Phenotypes Associated With Gli3 Mutations, Jennifer J. Johnston, Julie C. Sapp, Joyce T. Turner, David Tilstra Md

Articles

A range of phenotypes including Greig cephalopolysyndactyly and Pallister-Hall syndromes (GCPS, PHS) are caused by pathogenic mutation of the GLI3 gene. To characterize the clinical variability of GLI3 mutations, we present a subset of a cohort of 174 probands referred for GLI3 analysis. Eighty-one probands with typical GCPS or PHS were previously reported, and we report the remaining 93 probands here. This includes 19 probands (12 mutations) who fulfilled clinical criteria for GCPS or PHS, 48 probands (16 mutations) with features of GCPS or PHS but who did not meet the clinical criteria (sub-GCPS and sub-PHS), 21 probands (6 mutations) …

The European Human Rights System, James W. Hart Oct 2010

The European Human Rights System, James W. Hart

Law Librarian Articles and Other Publications

This article presents the historical, organizational, and bibliographic information needed to research the Council of Europe’s regulation of human rights. It begins with an explanation of the reasons for the organization’s founding and then describes its statute, its structure, the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, the history of the changes in the treaty’s procedures, and its enforcement mechanisms. The final section provides similar treatment for another, less well known, of the Council’s human rights treaties, the European Social Charter
