The DIT-ACHIEV Model is a model of sustainable tourism indicators developed in a previous research project undertaken by the School of Hospitality Management and Tourism, Dublin Institute of Technology. The indicators represent six fields of interest – Administration, Community, Heritage, Infrastructure, Enterprise and Visitor (Flanagan et al, 2007). This current research addresses the implementation of the DIT- ACHIEV model in an Irish tourism destination, with the objective to assess whether it can be implemented by the local community in any tourism destination.

About one-third of the world’s population uses biomass and other renewable sources of fuel for cooking and other heating purposes. The Biomass is not burnt efficiently which results in the release of pollutants which are the products of incomplete combustion. Previously, studies have been done to study the PM2.5, CO, methane and non methane compounds to study the dose exposure relationships of the cookstoves. Electrospray is an aerosolization method that generates highly charged droplets from solutions or suspensions and, after a series of solvent evaporation - droplet fission cycles, it results in particles carrying multiple charges. Highly charged particles are used in a variety of applications, including particle characterization, thin film deposition, nanopatterning, and inhalation studies among several others. In this work, a soft X-ray photoionization was coupled with an electrospray to obtain monodisperse, singly charged nanoparticles for applications in online size characterization with electrical mobility analysis. The Porto settlement (Northwest Portugal, Iberian Peninsula) was originally built in the twelfth century and has been developed on granitic hill slopes of the Douro riverside, being one of the oldest cities in Europe. In the urban area of Porto, the second most important city of the Portuguese mainland, there is a population of about 216,000 inhabitants. This study highlights the importance of urban speleological mapping applied to groundwater and geo-engineering studies. The selection of a military recruitment method has historically been based on material capabilities and military objectives. Recruitment strategies range from coercively conscripting soldiers to encouraging volunteer enlistments. Historically, states around the globe have used large conscripted armies to wage war when they become fully mobilized for protracted military engagements against another state. Green infrastructure is an economically and environmentally viable approach for water management and natural resource protection in urban areas. This Article argues that green infrastructure has additional and exceptional benefits for the urban poor which are not frequently highlighted or discussed. When green infrastructure is concentrated in distressed neighborhoods—where it frequently is not—it can improve urban water quality, reduce urban air pollution, improve public health, enhance urban aesthetics and safety, generate green collar jobs, and facilitate urban food security. This article evaluates the impact of the growing presence of privatized water and wastewater infrastructure projects in some of the world’s most populous countries: China, India, the United States, Brazil, and Nigeria. Together, these nations account for nearly 50 percent of the world’s population. The article discusses environmental justice issues associated with contaminated drinking water and insufficient sanitation and explores the role that public versus private ownership of water infrastructure plays in ensuring access to clean water for the lower-income echelons of society. Rooted tells the stories of a new generation of farmers and ranchers in Montana through still photography and written profiles; the project is the result of 13 site visits and interviews. I define “new farmer” as a person operating their own agricultural business for 10 years or fewer, though this definition gets blurred and complicated when referring to people who return to their family’s farm or ranch. Introduced vertebrates have a variety of impacts on ecosystems and economies, and many cause problems for humans. One such problem is the loss of electrical power when invasive animals cause short circuits in power-transmission equipment. Cuban treefrogs (Osteopilus septentrionalis) are known to cause power outages and are a nuisance to humans when they invade homes and defecate on doors and windows. These large, slightly toxic treefrogs were introduced into Florida from the Caribbean. They now occur throughout the peninsula of Florida and are spreading to other states in the Southeast. Combustion of incense, candles, and mosquito coils produces a variety of air pollutants, which may cause adverse health effects. This study was to characterize emissions of particulate matter (PM2.5) and carbon monoxide (CO) from the burning process of three selected types of emitters: incense, candles, and mosquito coils. The experiments were conducted in an aluminum foil-lined wall chamber with a dimension of 1x1x1 m3. Emission rates and emission factors of the test emitters were obtained from fitting time-dependent concentrations of the measured pollutants to a single-compartment mass balance model. This study was aimed to evaluate the feasibility of an iron-phosphate coating on pyrite surfaces for inhibiting an oxidation that is expected to prevent acid mine drainage (AMD). Prior to the experiments, pyrite samples (av. 425-850 µm in size) were mixed with sand (av. 1-2 mm in size) with a ratio of 1:4. Coating process was conducted in batch experiments that were treating with various concentrations of coating solutions, i.e., hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), sodium acetate (NaAc) and potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KH2PO4) at different contact times. Air-water inter-phase mass transport of organic contaminants is often an important factor in their environmental fate and behaviour. The equilibrium situation is given by the Henry's Law Constant of the compound, but is rarely attained under environmental conditions. Approach to equilibrium is commonly described by the two-film theory involving molecular (Fickian) diffusion through thin stagnant films adjacent to the air-water interface. This theory is formulated in terms of mass transfer coefficients and fugacity transport parameters. Penetration and Surface Renewal Theories of mass transfer are also discussed. Durian Peel As Biosorbent For Removal Of Cadmium Ions From Aqueous Solution, Wanna Saikaew, Pairat Kaewsarn

The ability of durian peel to remove Cd(II) ions from aqueous solution by biosorption was investigated. The sorption capacities at different solution pH, agitation speed, temperatures, initial cadmium ions concentrations and contact time were evaluated on a batch scale basis. At pH 5 and agitation speed 150 rpm, the cadmium ions removal reached at a maximum value. Increases in cadmium capacity with increasing temperature indicated endothermic nature of the biosorption process. The equilibrium was better described by the Langmuir isotherm model, with a maximum biosorption capacity of 18.55 mg g-1. The biosorption was relatively quick about 15 min to reach …
