Electronic Theses and Dissertations
This composition is intended to unfold more or less linearly, as a progression of temperament or attitude. Its most prominent compositional characteristic is recurring motive for cohesion and unification, both within and across movements, as opposed to much direct repetition. Each movement is tonally based and establishes at least one principle key area, but each also employs the common use of mode mixture, sometimes frequent modulation, and some extent of chromatic passages.

Screen, Stabilize, And Ship: Emtala, U.S. Hospitals, And Undocumented Immigrants (International Patient Dumping), Jennifer M. Smith
Screen, Stabilize, And Ship: Emtala, U.S. Hospitals, And Undocumented Immigrants (International Patient Dumping), Jennifer M. Smith
Journal Publications
Pursuant to the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA), patient dumping is illegal in the United States. American hospitals cannot inappropriately discharge or transfer unstable patients to other medical facilities in the United States without violating EMTALA. Yet, American hospitals are doing this very thing- international patient dumping, by inappropriately transferring or discharging (i.e. shipping) indigent undocumented immigrants in arguably unstable conditions to Third World medical facilities in the home country of the immigrant absent federal government oversight or compliance with EMTALA.
Correcting Mismatched Authorities: Erecting A New "Water Federalism", Robert H. "Bo" Abrams
Correcting Mismatched Authorities: Erecting A New "Water Federalism", Robert H. "Bo" Abrams
Journal Publications
In the United States water law is a subset of property law that controls the use and allocation of the water resource. Water law was, and remains, state law; nothing in the Constitution purports to change that. The scope of federal sovereignty at the time of nationhood did not include even the possibility of playing a major role in regulating resources because the national government was not a significant landholder. The twentieth century changed water federalism dramatically. In the twentieth century, even while laws and rhetoric respected the division of authority favoring the states, the real power over water in …

Diagnosing Service Quality In Retailing: The Case Of Singapore, Srinivas Durvasula, Steven Lysonski
Diagnosing Service Quality In Retailing: The Case Of Singapore, Srinivas Durvasula, Steven Lysonski
Marketing Faculty Research and Publications
This paper examines the service quality perceptions of consumers towards retailers in Singapore. We applied SERVQUAL, a popular measure of service quality to a sample of 172 consumers to assess service quality perceptions, expectations and gaps in service quality. We first examined the dimensionality and reliability of this scale. Subsequently, analysis by various demographic groups revealed significant gaps in service quality; the gaps in quality were much higher for some service quality dimensions than for others. The implications of these results for Singapore retailers and retail entrepreneurs are then presented along with future research directions.
Parallel Adolescents, Tricia Windowmaker
Parallel Adolescents, Tricia Windowmaker
HIM 1990-2015
The general intent of my thesis is to write two novellas that show the differences in ways of life in two completely dissimilar states, and the conflicts that occurred therein. Therefore, the novellas will include a variation in gender, setting, and conflict. The main characters will be roughly the same age, but I will explore how the setting they live in has affected conflicts they have to deal with. I will explore writing these two novellas in the category of young adult fiction, as well as, first person narration for a close psychic distance.

Objectives: To examine the independent and joint effects of psychosocial chronic and acute stressors with weight status and to report the intraclass correlation coefficient for body mass index (BMI). Methods: Baseline data on 2782 employees from a group-randomized weight gain prevention intervention were examined to investigate the effect of high job strain and job insecurity on BMI and on the odds of overweight/obesity including potential confounders and mediating variables. Data were analyzed using mixed models. Results: The mediating variables removed the effect of high job strain on weight (β = 0.68, P = 0.07; odds ratios = 1.34, confidence interval …
