Conference papers

We consider operational risk and market integration in the banking system of the Central and East European Countries’ (CEECs). The analysis provides an interesting framework in relation to the effects of the global financial crisis in some European emerging banks. We implement an econometric model that takes into account the level of integration of these banks in relation to a number of most developed institutions, which are represented by the Dow Jones STOXX 600 index, with the objective of analyzing how this could be impacting the level of operational risk in the region. A precast post-tensioned segmental pole system capable of supporting a load is provided. The pole system includes a plurality of pole segments that use connectors and strands to anchor them together. The strands extend within a cavity formed in the pole segments and are external to the wall structure of the pole segments. The strands may be coupled between both of the pole segments, or be anchored to a connector. The connector includes an upper piece that is coupled to one pole segment, and a lower piece that is coupled to the other pole segment. Upper and lower pieces interlock …

Several stochastic simulations of the TIP4P [W. L. Jorgensen, J. Chandrasekhar, J. D. Madura, R. W. Impey, and M. L. Klein, J. Chem. Phys. 79, 926 (1983)] water octamer are performed. Use is made of the stereographic projection path integral and the Green’s function stereographic projection diffusion Monte Carlo techniques, recently developed in one of our groups. The importance sampling for the diffusion Monte Carlo algorithm is obtained by optimizing a simple wave function using variational Monte Carlo enhanced with parallel tempering to overcome quasiergodicity problems. The quantum heat capacity of the TIP4P octamer contains a pronounced melting peak …
