White cement has currently received increasing attention due to potential for use in sustainable concrete structures. Based on the U.S. Green Building Council certification practice, the LEED Green Building Rating System for New Construction and Major Renovation (LEED-NC) considers that the reflective quality of white surfaces may help to improve lighting efficiency and reduce temperature fluctuations, resulting in lower heating and cooling with reduction of related energy costs. Modernizing Nationalism: Masculinity And The Performance Of Anglophone Caribbean Identities, Nadia Indra Johnson

This study examines Anglophone Caribbean national identities to interrogate multiple and varied economies that manage citizens in the interest of economic and social production and/or the policing of national identities. It is particularly concerned with the gendered character of these economies. The formation and preservation of these national identities rely heavily on gender and sexual difference as Anglophone Caribbean national identities are inextricably linked to expressions of Afro-Caribbean masculinity. Thus I analyze novels and cultural representations of Afro-Caribbean masculinity in cricket, calypso and chutney-soca music in Trinidad's carnival. The need to satisfy aerospace industry's demand not met by traditional materials motivated researchers and scientists to look for new solutions. The answer was found in developing new material systems by combining together two or more constituents. Composites, also known as fiber reinforced polymers (FRP) consisting of a reinforcing phase (fibers) embedded into a matrix (polymer), offered several advantages with respect to conventional materials. High specific modulus and strength together with other beneficial properties, corrosion resistance and transparency to electrical and magnetic fields above all, made FRP also suitable for use as construction materials in structural engineering. Emotion conveys the psychological state of a person. It is expressed by a variety of physiological changes, such as changes in blood pressure, heart beat rate, degree of sweating, and can be manifested in shaking, changes in skin coloration, facial expression, and the acoustics of speech. This research focuses on the recognition of emotion conveyed in speech. There were three main objectives of this study. An Analysis Of Teacher And Student Interactions In Desegregated School Environments, Veronica Diane Roberts

This exploratory study examined whether teacher/ student interaction is affected by the integration and the ethnicity of both teachers and students in selected schools. Ten teachers, six White and four Black, from three selected school campuses volunteered to participate in the study. Each of the selected schools enrolled between six to nine hundred students with average student populations that were comprised of 60 percent White students and 40 percent Black students. Selected classrooms had a demographic composite that was representative of the total school enrollment. Using the Flanders Interaction Analysis System, verbal interaction was classified into ten major categories. The …

Administrators, principals and educators in the local schools are impacted tremendously by this decision. The necessity to provide an appropriate education for special needs children while successfully implementing inclusion is a priority of all stakeholders. The need to ensure compliance with federal and state laws while providing a quality education to all children with disabilities is a primary concern. An ex post facto study was conducted to determine whether any relationship exists between remediation post Reach Exit Exam (E2) failure and NCLEX-RN success of graduates of baccalaureate nursing programs. Data was gathered from responses to the seventh annual validity study (V7S) offered to deans and directors of nursing programs by the Director of Research for Elsevier, Incorporated. Data focused on test groups which received administration of the E2 between September 1, 2006 and August 31, 2007. Responses from 28 baccalaureate nursing programs were included in the study. The purpose of this quantitative study was to do a comparative analysis of Missouri Assessment Program Test (MAP) performance of third grade students in Missouri Bootheel schools. The analysis was designed to answer the following research question: Is there a significant difference in MAP scores of third-grade students who attended publicly funded preschool programs and those who did not attend publicly funded preschool programs? A total of 239 scores were analyzed to determine if a significant difference existed between the two groups. Data were placed in the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences program. Thermal Conduction In Molecular Materials Using Coarse Grain Dynamics: Role Of Mass Diffusion And Quantum Corrections For Molecular Dynamics Simulations, Ya Zhou, Alejandro Strachan

PRISM: NNSA Center for Prediction of Reliability, Integrity and Survivability of Microsystems

We use a mesodynamical method, denoted dynamics with implicit degrees of freedom DID, to characterize thermal transport in a model molecular crystal below and above its melting temperature. DID represents groups of atoms molecules in this case using mesoparticles and the thermal role of the intramolecular degrees of freedom DoFs are described implicitly using their specific heat. We focus on the role of these intramolecular DoFs on thermal transport. We find that thermal conductivity is independent of intramolecular specific heat for solid samples and a linear relationship between the two quantities in liquid samples with the coefficient of proportionality being …

A measurement of the cross section for the inclusive production of isolated photons by the CDF experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron collider is presented. The measurement covers the pseudorapidity region |ηγ|<1.0 and the transverse energy range ETγ>30GeV and is based on 2.5fb-1 of integrated luminosity. The sample is almost a factor of 7 larger than those used for recent published results and extends the ETγ coverage by 100 GeV. The result agrees with next-to-leading order perturbative QCD calculations within uncertainties over the range 50

Metallic nitride fullerenes (MNFs) and oxometallic fullerenes (OMFs) react quickly with an array of Lewis acids. Empty-cage fullerenes are largely unreactive under conditions used in this study. The reactivity order is Sc4O2@Ih-C80 > Sc3N@C78 > Sc3N@C68 > Sc3N@D5h-C80 > Sc3N@Ih-C80. Manipulations of Lewis acids, molar ratios, and kinetic differences within the family of OMF and MNF metallofullerenes are demonstrated in a selective precipitation scheme, which can be used either alone for purifying Sc3N@Ih …

Solid State And Solution Dynamics Of Pyridine Based Tetraaza- Macrocyclic Lanthanide Chelates Possessing Phosphonate Ligating Functionality (Ln-Pctmb): Effect On Relaxometry And Optical Properties, Garry Kiefer, Mark Woods

The macrocyclic ligand 3,6,9-tris(methylenebutyl phosphonic acid)-3,6,9−15-tetraazabicyclo [9.3.1]pentadeca-1(15),11,13-triene (PCTMB) was synthesized and complexes of Eu3+, Tb3+, and Gd3+ studied by X-ray crystallography, luminescence, and relaxometry. In the crystal these complexes are dimeric and possess 8-coordinate Ln3+ centers that are linked by bridging phosphonates. The rigidity introduced by the pyridyl nucleus forces the EuPCTMB and TbPCTMB to adopt a twisted snub disphenoid (TSD) coordination geometry. Examination of the 5D0 → 7F0 luminescent transition of EuPCTMB in the solid state confirmed the existence of a single distinct Eu3+ coordination environment, whereas two …
