Negative-Ion Resonances In Zinc: A Study In Elastic Electron Scattering And Electron Transmission, S. A. Napier, D. Cvejanović, Paul D. Burrow, J. F. Williams, J. A. Michejda, L. Pravica

Paul Burrow Publications

The energies, widths, and angular behavior of negative-ion resonances in zinc atoms are determined using the complementary experimental techniques of electron transmission and angular differential elastic scattering.

Treasure In Jars Of Clay: Towards A New Pauline Pastoral Theology Of Mission To Generation Y In Australia, Matthew Brain Jan 2009

Treasure In Jars Of Clay: Towards A New Pauline Pastoral Theology Of Mission To Generation Y In Australia, Matthew Brain

Theses

Within the contemporary Australian context, it is evident that the young people who represent Generation Y (born, 1981 – 1995) are not engaged by a Christian faith. This thesis will set out an approach that will seek to re-envisage the transmission of a Christian faith to the members of Generation Y in Australia through a Pauline pastoral theology of mission. Hence, this thesis aims:

1. To provide a theological hermeneutic of pastoral mission that may be a partner in dialogue with other approaches to ministry among Generation Y.

2. To assist the Christian churches in their consideration of some of …

Using Icesat's Geoscience Laser Altimeter System To Assess Large Scale Forest Disturbance Caused By Hurricane Katrina, Katelyn A. Dolan Jan 2009

Using Icesat's Geoscience Laser Altimeter System To Assess Large Scale Forest Disturbance Caused By Hurricane Katrina, Katelyn A. Dolan

Master's Theses and Capstones

We assessed the use of GLAS data as a tool to quantify large-scale forest damage. GLAS data for the year prior to and following Hurricane Katrina were compared to wind speed, forest cover, and MODIS NPV maps to analyze senor sampling, and changes in mean canopy height. We detected significant losses in mean canopy height post-Katrina that increased with wind intensity, from ∼.5m in forests hit by tropical storm winds to ∼4m in forests experiencing category two force winds. Season of data acquisition was shown to influence calculations of mean canopy height. There was insufficient sampling to adequately detect changes …

A Regional Scale Modeling Analysis Of Aerosol And Trace Gas Distributions Over The Eastern Pacific During The Intex-B Field Campaign, D. Adhikary, Brian G. Heikes, Et Al Jan 2009

A Regional Scale Modeling Analysis Of Aerosol And Trace Gas Distributions Over The Eastern Pacific During The Intex-B Field Campaign, D. Adhikary, Brian G. Heikes, Et Al

Graduate School of Oceanography Faculty Publications

The Sulfur Transport and dEposition Model (STEM) is applied to the analysis of observations obtained during the Intercontinental Chemical Transport Experiment-Phase B (INTEX-B), conducted over the eastern Pacific Ocean during spring 2006. Predicted trace gas and aerosol distributions over the Pacific are presented and discussed in terms of transport and source region contributions. Trace species distributions show a strong west (high) to east (low) gradient, with the bulk of the pollutant transport over the central Pacific occurring between ~20° N and 50° N in the 2–6 km altitude range. These distributions are evaluated in the eastern Pacific by comparison with …

Spacecraft Formation Flight At Sun-Earth/Moon Libration Points, Douglas Robert Tolbert Jan 2009

Spacecraft Formation Flight At Sun-Earth/Moon Libration Points, Douglas Robert Tolbert

Doctoral Dissertations

"Formations of spacecraft, positioned near the libration points of the Sun- Earth/Moon system, have recently received an increase in interest in response to a variety of mission needs. Specifically, missions such as the Micro Arcsecond X-Ray Imaging Mission (MAXIM), Terrestrial Pathfinder (TPF), Stellar Imager (SI) and the European Space Agency's DARWIN all baseline formations of spacecraft to satisfy mission requirements. Replacing the traditional single spacecraft mission with multiple small spacecraft flying in formation is advantageous for these missions, especially when establishing a virtual aperture. These types of formations allow for higher resolution observations than with a single, conventional aperture. The …
