Servant Leadership And The Military Professional: How Do Military Professionals Practice Servant Leadership In Their Lives As Leaders?, David Limberg Dec 2009

Servant Leadership And The Military Professional: How Do Military Professionals Practice Servant Leadership In Their Lives As Leaders?, David Limberg

Theses and Graduate Projects

Military organizations, like the U.S. Army, traditionally are mission driven entities and organizational success is paramount in all military endeavors. The purpose of this research is to investigate the relationship between leadership practices of military professionals and the characteristics of Servant Leadership. The specific research question is: "How do military professionals practice Servant Leadership in the conduct of their lives as leaders?" The examination of this question will further ground Servant Leadership as a tangible leadership model in a large organization. This study will qualitatively examine four military professionals through a series of interviews and determine what leader actions they …

Unified Database Interface, Ravikumar Police

Masters Theses & Doctoral Dissertations

Now days every organization uses SQL plus tool to write SQL commands in oracle database or in some other databases. As an industry norms database must be under control of database administrator, which means no other user can access the database but sometimes organization will give permissions to all users in that organization to access the database for some projects and also organization has to give permissions for their clients to access database but sometimes manually it is not possible. To avoid these types of problems UNIFIED DATABASE INTERFACE was introduced. UNIFIED DAT ABASE INTERFACE is an industry-standard tool for …

Corporate Social Performance: Reporting Roundtable, Poonam Puri, Edward J. Waitzer, Kevin Ranney, Michael Torrance

Commissioned Reports, Studies and Public Policy Documents

The purpose of this consultation (to take place in Toronto, Canada on December 7, 2009) is to elicit the views of informed stakeholders in a review of reporting and disclosure requirements under Ontario securities legislation for corporate “social” performance. In particular, the Consultation paper considers whether existing reporting and disclosure requirements on corporate social performance are adequate. If change is advisable, the question becomes what regulatory or other measures merit consideration.

The Consultation is in response to a private member’s resolution introduced by the Honorable Laurel Broten (Etobicoke-Lakeshore), and passed unanimously by the Ontario Legislature (the “Resolution”). In part, the …

Coming Full Circle, Maripatricia Hyatt Dec 2009

Coming Full Circle, Maripatricia Hyatt

Theses and Dissertations

Artist Statement From my earliest memories pattern and repetition of the details in my surroundings were things that caught my attention. The patterns found in the living room wallpaper, the fabric of my mom’s dress, the texture in the buttons found in the sewing box were all fascinating to me. Figuring out the rules of the pattern and being able to predict what came next satisfied my need for order. More recently, I have found myself breaking the rules of predictability by disrupting pattern and combining unexpected materials. With a focus on textiles, I am inspired by and drawn to …

Noninvasive Estimation Of Pulmonary Artery Pressure Using Heart Sound Analysis, Aaron W. Dennis Dec 2009

Noninvasive Estimation Of Pulmonary Artery Pressure Using Heart Sound Analysis, Aaron W. Dennis

Theses and Dissertations

Right-heart catheterization is the most accurate method for estimating pulmonary artery pressure (PAP). Because it is an invasive procedure it is expensive, exposes patients to the risk of infection, and is not suited for long-term monitoring situations. Medical researchers have shown that PAP influences the characteristics of heart sounds. This suggests that heart sound analysis is a potential noninvasive solution to the PAP estimation problem. This thesis describes the development of a prototype system, called PAPEr, which estimates PAP noninvasively using heart sound analysis. PAPEr uses patient data with machine learning algorithms to build models of how PAP affects heart …

Developing The Nomological Network Of Perceived Corporate Affinity For Technology: A Three Essay Dissertation, David Earl Fleming Dec 2009

Developing The Nomological Network Of Perceived Corporate Affinity For Technology: A Three Essay Dissertation, David Earl Fleming

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Technology is changing the face of both the sales and service domains. Honebein and Cammarano (2006) note that properly implemented self-service technologies serve dual purposes of decreasing firm overhead costs, while simultaneously engaging the customer in a way encourages the co-create of value for both parties. To get these benefits stakeholders must be willing to adopt and use the technologies that are available.

Traditionally, this has lead to the research question "How do firms do this?" However, according to a recent article by Woodall, Colby and Parasuraman (2007), consumers are now demanding more technology-based options and becoming more technologically savvy. …

Automatic Exposure Control And Estimation Of Effective System Noise In Diffuse Fluorescence Tomography, Dax L. Kepshire, Hamid Dehghani, Frederic Leblond, Brian W. Pogue Dec 2009

Automatic Exposure Control And Estimation Of Effective System Noise In Diffuse Fluorescence Tomography, Dax L. Kepshire, Hamid Dehghani, Frederic Leblond, Brian W. Pogue

Dartmouth Scholarship

A diffuse fluorescence tomography system, based upon time-correlated single photon counting, is presented with an automated algorithm to allow dynamic range variation through exposure control. This automated exposure control allows the upper and lower detection levels of fluorophore to be extended by an order of magnitude beyond the previously published performance and benefits in a slight decrease in system effective noise. The effective noise level is used as a metric to characterize the system performance, integrating both model-mismatch and calibration bias errors into a single parameter. This effective error is near 7% of the reconstructed fluorescent yield value, when imaging …

Effect Of Different Conditions On Viability And Antagonistic Activity Of Saccharomyces Boulardii On Enteric Pathogenic Bacteria, Zahra M. Al-Khafaji, Thuria K. Ibrahim, Author Degree, Reem F Abdul-Hameed

Baghdad Science Journal

In this part of programme , different bacterial isolates mainly Salmonella spp, Shigella spp and Escherichia coli were used for antagonism with Saccharomyces boulardii under different conditions . S.boulardii was grown under aerobic conditions and antagonized with young overnight nutrient broth cultures of test bacterial isolates and other kept in refrigerator for a week after full growth . Young cultures were more susceptible to antagonistic effect of yeast compared to old cultures and on isolates grown on solid medium for 24 hr. S.boulardii grown under aerobic and microaerobic conditions and antagonized with overnight broth cultures of test bacterial isolates , …
