Vectors And Methods For Enhanced Cell Longevity And Protein Expression, Bruce A. Webb, Jeremy Kroemer
Vectors And Methods For Enhanced Cell Longevity And Protein Expression, Bruce A. Webb, Jeremy Kroemer
Entomology Faculty Patents
It is the object of the current invention to provide methods and compositions relating to the expression of vankyrin proteins in cell lines to increase their viability, longevity and capacity for protein production. The inventors have discovered that the expression of P-ank-1 and I2-ank-3 proteins in cell culture has increased the cells' longevity and capacity for endogenous and/or heterologous target protein production. Specifically, the present invention relates to the enhanced expression of endogenous and/or heterologous target proteins/polypeptides in recombinant cells that are also expressing P-ank-1 and/or I2-ank-3 protein compared to expression host cells that are not …

Laser Beam Shaping For Pitchfork Profile, Aravinda Kar, Nathaniel Quick, Chong Zhang
Laser Beam Shaping For Pitchfork Profile, Aravinda Kar, Nathaniel Quick, Chong Zhang
UCF Patents
Apparatus, systems, methods and devices of an optical system for producing a laser beam having pitchfork profile. The system includes a laser source providing an input Gaussian beam, refractive optical lenses for converting the input Gaussian bean into a super Gaussian beam. A focusing lens focuses the super Gaussian beam, where by diffraction effect after the focusing lens, the beam profile near a focal spot is a pitchfork shaped beam. In an embodiment, the refractive optical lenses are plano-aspheric lenses. Tne pitchfork shaped beam is produced by passing the input Gaussian beam through plano-aspheric lenses to produce the super Gaussian, …
Elliptical Polarizers, Tags And Identification Systems Using Frequency Selective Surfaces, Glenn Boreman, Daniel Mullally, Jeffrey Tharp
Elliptical Polarizers, Tags And Identification Systems Using Frequency Selective Surfaces, Glenn Boreman, Daniel Mullally, Jeffrey Tharp
UCF Patents
An optical combination includes a substrate, a linear polarizer on the substrate, and a first frequency selective surface (FSS) based elliptical polarization filter on the linear polarizer. The first FSS comprises at least one periodic pattern of spaced apart electrically conductive lines having a sub-wavelength line-to-line spacing orientated along a first axis. The pattern is operable to impose a phase differential for one orthogonal linear polarization state relative to the other linear polarization state for electromagnetic radiation having a wavelength between 400 nm and 1 mm, such as 1 um to 12 um. An identification system and associated method for …

Community Voice: Taking It To The People, Guidelines For Conducting A Process Evaluation, Tiffany Mcghee
Theses and Dissertations
Background The Community Voice program is designed for African-Americans and explores key factors that can contribute to African-American infant mortality. This program was implemented in Henrico County based on Virginia Health Statistics that the White infant mortality rate average during the years of 2001-2005 was 5.3 deaths per 1,000 live births and in the same time period the infant mortality rate for African-Americans was 13.7 deaths per 1,000 live births. At the time of implementation of the program, no plans to evaluate the program had been made. Objective This evaluation was designed to develop guidelines regarding the evaluation process of …
Several Remarks On The Benefits Of Knowing Statistics, Jerzy Żyżyński
Several Remarks On The Benefits Of Knowing Statistics, Jerzy Żyżyński
European Management Studies
The article is of methodological nature. The Author pays attention to the significance of statistics in research and creating theories in economy. He shows how the lack of a statistical approach leads to mistakes that manifest themselves in the creation of models far removed from reality, as well as to mistakes in practical management. A special significance is given to the perception of objects as elements of structurally constructed collectivities. He pays attention to the proper perception of structures, the correct choice of value level measures - especially the taking into consideration of the difference between a mean and a …
Involving Youth In Community Emergency Preparedness: Impacts Of A Multistate Initiative, Pamela Powell, Marilyn Smith, Lynette Black
Involving Youth In Community Emergency Preparedness: Impacts Of A Multistate Initiative, Pamela Powell, Marilyn Smith, Lynette Black
Journal of Youth Development
The National Preparedness Guidelines (2007) state, “as uniformed responders account for less than 1% of the total U.S. population, it is clear that citizens must be better prepared, trained, and practiced on how best to take care of themselves and assist others in those first crucial hours during and after a catastrophic incident.” This is increasingly more evident due to recent disasters such as hurricane Katrina. The Alert, Evacuate and Shelter (AES) program identified and trained youth/adult teams to use geospatial technology to map shelter locations and evacuation routes. Training began with team building activities to strengthen and build youth/adult …

Incorporating Remotely Sensed Tree Canopy Cover Data Into Broad Scale Assessments Of Wildlife Habitat Distribution And Conservation, Sebastián Martinuzzi, Lee A. Vierling, William A. Gould, Kerri T. Vierling, Andrew T. Hudak
Incorporating Remotely Sensed Tree Canopy Cover Data Into Broad Scale Assessments Of Wildlife Habitat Distribution And Conservation, Sebastián Martinuzzi, Lee A. Vierling, William A. Gould, Kerri T. Vierling, Andrew T. Hudak
United States Department of Agriculture, Forest Service / University of Nebraska-Lincoln: Faculty Publications
Remote sensing provides critical information for broad scale assessments of wildlife habitat distribution and conservation. However, such efforts have been typically unable to incorporate information about vegetation structure, a variable important for explaining the distribution of many wildlife species. We evaluated the consequences of incorporating remotely sensed information about horizontal vegetation structure into current assessments of wildlife habitat distribution and conservation. For this, we integrated the new NLCD tree canopy cover product into the US GAP Analysis database, using avian species and the finished Idaho GAP Analysis as a case study. We found: (1) a 15-68% decrease in the extent …
Servant Leadership And The Military Professional: How Do Military Professionals Practice Servant Leadership In Their Lives As Leaders?, David Limberg
Servant Leadership And The Military Professional: How Do Military Professionals Practice Servant Leadership In Their Lives As Leaders?, David Limberg
Theses and Graduate Projects
Military organizations, like the U.S. Army, traditionally are mission driven entities and organizational success is paramount in all military endeavors. The purpose of this research is to investigate the relationship between leadership practices of military professionals and the characteristics of Servant Leadership. The specific research question is: "How do military professionals practice Servant Leadership in the conduct of their lives as leaders?" The examination of this question will further ground Servant Leadership as a tangible leadership model in a large organization. This study will qualitatively examine four military professionals through a series of interviews and determine what leader actions they …

Now days every organization uses SQL plus tool to write SQL commands in oracle database or in some other databases. As an industry norms database must be under control of database administrator, which means no other user can access the database but sometimes organization will give permissions to all users in that organization to access the database for some projects and also organization has to give permissions for their clients to access database but sometimes manually it is not possible. To avoid these types of problems UNIFIED DATABASE INTERFACE was introduced. UNIFIED DAT ABASE INTERFACE is an industry-standard tool for …
