Microfluidic Delivery Of Small Molecules Into Mammalian Cells Based On Hydrodynamic Focusing, F Wang, H Wang, J Wang, H.-Y. Wang, P L. Rummel, S V. Garimella, C Lu

CTRC Research Publications

Microfluidics-based cell assays offer high levels of automation and integration, and allow multiple assays to be run in parallel, based on reduced sample volumes. These characteristics make them attractive for studies associated with drug discovery. Controlled delivery of drug molecules or other exogenous materials into cells is a critical issue that needs to be addressed before microfluidics can serve as a viable platform for drug screening and studies. In this study, we report the application of hydrodynamic focusing for controlled delivery of small molecules into cells immobilized on the substrate of a microfluidic device. We delivered calcein AM which was …

1f Noise Of Sno2 Nanowire Transistors, Sanghyun Ju, Pochiang Chen, Chongwu Zhou, Young-Geun Ha, Antonio Facchetti, Tobin J. Marks, Sun Kook Kim, Saeed Mohammadi, David B. Janes Jan 2008

1f Noise Of Sno2 Nanowire Transistors, Sanghyun Ju, Pochiang Chen, Chongwu Zhou, Young-Geun Ha, Antonio Facchetti, Tobin J. Marks, Sun Kook Kim, Saeed Mohammadi, David B. Janes

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty Publications

The low frequency (1f) noise in single SnO2 nanowire transistors was investigated to access semiconductor-dielectric interface quality. The amplitude of the current noise spectrum (SI) is found to be proportional to Id2 in the transistor operating regime. The extracted Hooge's constants (H) are 4.510 -2 at Vds=0.1 V and 5.110-2 at V ds=1 V, which are in general agreement with our prior studies of nanowire/nanotube transistors characterized in ambient conditions. Furthermore, the effects of interface states and contacts on the noise are also discussed.

A 32kb 10t Subthreshold Sram Array With Bit-Interleaving And Differential Read Scheme In 90nm Cmos, Ik Joon Chang, Jae-Joon Kim, Sang Phill Park, Kaushik Roy Jan 2008

A 32kb 10t Subthreshold Sram Array With Bit-Interleaving And Differential Read Scheme In 90nm Cmos, Ik Joon Chang, Jae-Joon Kim, Sang Phill Park, Kaushik Roy

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty Publications

We demonstrate a 10T subthreshold SRAM with an efficient bit-interleaving structure for soft-error tolerance and a differential read scheme for improved stability. The 32kb (256128) SRAM array is fabricated in 90nm CMOS and operates at 31.25kHz at 0.18V With more aggressive wordline boosting, the V DD can be reduced to 0.16V At the minimum VDD condition, the operating frequency is 500Hz and the power consumption is 0.123W.

A Bridging Fault Model Where Undetectable Faults Imply Logic Redundancy, I. Pomeranz, S. M. Reddy Jan 2008

A Bridging Fault Model Where Undetectable Faults Imply Logic Redundancy, I. Pomeranz, S. M. Reddy

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty Publications

We define a robust fault model as a model where the existence of an undetectable fault implies the existence of logic redundancy, or more generally, a suboptimality in the synthesis of the circuit. The stuck-at fault model is robust, but other fault models such as certain bridging fault models are not. A robust fault model provides a mechanism to synthesize circuits in which all the target faults are detectable and 100% fault coverage is achievable. The ability to achieve 100% fault coverage, or understand why it is not achievable, is important since the requirement to achieve high test quality translates …

A Bottom-Up Redefinition For Mobility And The Effect Of Poor Tube-Tube Contact On The Performance Of Cnt Nanonet Thin-Film Transistors, N. Pimparkar, M. A. Alam Jan 2008

A Bottom-Up Redefinition For Mobility And The Effect Of Poor Tube-Tube Contact On The Performance Of Cnt Nanonet Thin-Film Transistors, N. Pimparkar, M. A. Alam

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty Publications

Nanonet thin-film transistors (NN-TFTs) based on random or aligned networks of single-wall carbon nanotubes are often regarded as a promising high-performance alternative to amorphous-Si technology for various macroelectronics applications involving sensors and displays. The comparison of NN-TFTs with other competing technologies such as organic, a-Si, and p-Si TFTs, however, has proved difficult as the mobility of these devices (counterintuitively) depends on a host of geometrical parameters such as tube density D, tube length LS, channel length LC, tube-tube contact Cij, etc. In this letter, we redefine the mobility for NN-TFTs by generalizing the classical definition from a bottom-up perspective based …
