The Ugly Side Of The Beautiful Game - Hooliganism In French Football, Carlos Josue Amado
The Ugly Side Of The Beautiful Game - Hooliganism In French Football, Carlos Josue Amado
Theses and Dissertations
Football violence was a rare phenomenon in France until the nineteen eighties. Harsh economic times coupled with the challenges of unemployment brought a different type of fanatic to football stadia. To vent their frustration about the economic difficulties of their time, some fans found an easy scapegoat: the increasing number of African immigrants in France. These fans, known as hooligans, have become organized and can be found supporting most major French football clubs, disrupting what once was a relatively tranquil national pastime. This thesis traces their development in France, looks at what they borrowed from Italian and English fan groups, …

N,N’-Bis(3,5-Di-T-Butylsalicylideneimine) Propanediamine And Its Some Tetradentate Schiff Base Complexes Synthesis, Characterization And Thermal Study, Fatih Dogan, M. Ulusoy, O. F. Ozturk, I. Kaya, B. Salih
Materials Science and Engineering Faculty Research & Creative Works
Several mononuclear Co (II), Ni (II), Cu (II) and Fe (II) complexes of tetradentate salpren-type diamine, obtained from 3,5-di-tert–butyl-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde and 1,3-diaminopropane have been prepared and characterized by analytical, spectroscopic (FTIR, UV-Vis) techniques, magnetic susceptibility measurements and thermogravimetric analyses (TG). The thermodynamic and thermal properties of complexes have been investigated. For further characterization direct insertion probe-mass spectrometry (DIP-MS) was used and the fragmentation pattern and also stability of the ions were evaluated. The characterization of the end products of the decomposition was achieved by X-ray diffraction. The thermal stabilities of metal complexes of N,N’-bis(3,5-di-t-butylsalicylideneimine) propane diamine ligand (L) were found as …

School of Natural Resources: Faculty Publications
Background: The Human Microbiome Project (HMP) is one of the U.S. National Institutes of Health Roadmap for Medical Research. Primary interests of the HMP include the distinctiveness of different gut microbiomes, the factors influencing microbiome diversity, and the functional redundancies of the members of human microbiotas. In this present work, we contribute to these interests by characterizing two extinct human microbiotas.
Methodology/Principal Findings: We examine two paleofecal samples originating from cave deposits in Durango Mexico and dating to approximately 1300 years ago. Contamination control is a serious issue in ancient DNA research; we use a novel approach to control contamination. …

Multi-Film Compensation Liquid Crystal Display With Intial Homogenous Alignment, Shin-Tson Wu, Xinyu Zhu
UCF Patents
A liquid crystal display having a positive A-film and a negative A-film between a top polarizer and a bottom polarizer to increase the viewing angle of the liquid crystal display by reducing or eliminating light leakage at voltage-off state when viewed from an oblique angle. Method of increasing the viewing angle of the liquid crystal display by reducing or eliminating light leakage at voltage-off stage when viewed from an oblique angle. The compensation is applicable to use with liquid crystal displays having a liquid crystal layer that is homogenously aligned at off-state when no voltage is applied to the liquid …
