On Existence And Uniqueness Theorem Concerning Time–Dependent Heat Transfer Model, Naji A. Qatanani, Qasem M. Heeh

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

In this article we consider a physical model describing time-dependent heat transfer by conduction and radiation. This model contains two conducting and opaque materials which are in contact by radiation through a transparent medium bounded by diffuse-grey surfaces. The aim of this work is to present a reliable framework to prove the existence and the uniqueness of a weak solution for this problem. The existence of the solution can be proved by solving an auxiliary problem by the Galerkin-based approximation method and Moser-type arguments which implies the existence of solution to the original problem. The uniqueness of the solution will …

Molecular Analysis In Rauvolfia Tetraphylla L. Using Rapd Markers, R. Mahesh, N. Nirmal Kumar, R. Mary Sujin

Ethnobotanical Leaflets

The Present study reveals the molecular variations in different accessions of Rauvolfia tetraphylla L. a medicinally important plant collected from five locations of the Tirunelveli hills in Tamilnadu, India. Moleuclar analysis was carried out using RAPD markers. Out of the five primers screened, a total of 27 scorable polymorphic markers were generated. The genetic distance between the population ranged from 0.0770 to 0.3514 and the genetic identity ranged from 0.7037 to 0.9259. The overall observed and effective number of alleles is about 0.5007 and 0.3690 respectively. Nei (1978) overall genetic diversity is 0.2034. It is clear that there is distinct …

Anti-Diabetic Effect Of Gymnema Sylvestre (Asclepiadaceae) Powder In The Stomach Of Rats, R. Mary Sujin Et Al. Dec 2008

Anti-Diabetic Effect Of Gymnema Sylvestre (Asclepiadaceae) Powder In The Stomach Of Rats, R. Mary Sujin Et Al.

Ethnobotanical Leaflets

The present study reveals the anti-diabetic effect in stomach of albino wistar rats using Gymnema sylvestre (Retz) R.Br. herbal powder. The histopatholoical and biochemical assays were carried out in organs and blood serum of stomach. The different concentration of G. sylvestre treated as 5, 10, 15, 20/gms/25 days. The effect of crude drugs in rats reduced the body weight and the diabetics was assessed in stomach by measuring the levels of selected blood parameters of protein, glucose, cholesterol, insulin and triglycerides and the effect of histopathology. Treatment with G. sylvestre reduced the stomach weight of animals and reduced significant level …

Antimicrobial Screening Of Some Selected Tribal Medicinal Plants From Sriharikota Island, Andhra Pradesh, India, R. Bharath Kumar, B. Suryanarayana Dec 2008

Antimicrobial Screening Of Some Selected Tribal Medicinal Plants From Sriharikota Island, Andhra Pradesh, India, R. Bharath Kumar, B. Suryanarayana

Ethnobotanical Leaflets

Sriharikota Island is important because of its rich vegetational diversity and for the fact that it is the site of a Rocket Launching Station built by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). An aboriginal tribe called ‘Yanadi’ dwells in a few tribal pockets on Sriharikota Island. However, a few aged tribal men are still able to furnish information regarding their traditional practices of medicines and recipes. There is an urgent need to conserve their herbal wealth and preserve their traditional knowledge for the benefit of modern society. It is with this background, along with the need to give a primary …

Transformative Mediation: Empowering The Oppressed Voices Of A Multicultural City To Foster Strong Democracy., Arby Aiwazian Dec 2008

Transformative Mediation: Empowering The Oppressed Voices Of A Multicultural City To Foster Strong Democracy., Arby Aiwazian

The Scholar: St. Mary's Law Review on Race and Social Justice

Transformative mediation’s promotion of understanding, acceptance, and inclusion fosters a purer democracy by cultivating the individual self-empowerment of traditionally disempowered individuals that is vital to strong and robust democracies. By transforming relationships and empowering individuals, transformative mediation helps foster an arena for self-governance, which inevitably leads to self-empowerment and a purer democracy. Optimistically, as more individuals are empowered through transformative mediation, communities plagued with violence, hatred, and misunderstanding could also reap the benefits by fostering acceptance, communication, inclusion, and understanding. The nature of the United States’ current passive and procedural democratic system further perpetuates inequality by placing political power solely …

Gtpbp2 Is A Positive Regulator Of Tgf-[Beta] Signaling, And Is Required For Embryonic Patterning In Xenopus, Arif Kirmizitas

Stony Brook Theses and Dissertations Collection, 2006-2020 (closed to submissions)

The Transforming Growth Factor(TGF-) superfamily of signaling proteins regulate a diverse set of biological processes, including cell proliferation, adhesion, migration, apoptosis, differentiation and embryonic pattern formation. Because of its key role in these processes, a plethora of regulators are evolved to modulate TGF- signaling. The TGF- superfamily is comprised of about 30 ligands, which are commonly grouped into two broad sub-families based on their downstream signaling effectors: the TGF- /Nodal/Activin and BMP/GDF families. To identify novel molecules that regulate the intracellular BMP/Smad1 signaling pathway, we have undertaken a yeast two-hybrid screen using Smad1, and retrieved GTPBP2 as a binding partner …

A Comparative Study Of Various High Density Data Center Cooling Technologies, Kwok Wu Dec 2008

A Comparative Study Of Various High Density Data Center Cooling Technologies, Kwok Wu

Stony Brook Theses and Dissertations Collection, 2006-2020 (closed to submissions)

As the power density continues to increase in Data Centers, the need for effective and efficient cooling methods becomes more necessary. Various industry leaders have developed technologies as a solution to the problem of cooling. These proposed solutions aim to improve air-flow management within a data center. By identifying the technologies that allow for better cooling performance, data centers will have an opportunity to reduce cooling costs. This comparative study uses a CFD tool to identify which existing technology provides the best opportunity to reduce the cost of cooling at densities ranging from 2kW per cabinet to 16kW per cabinet …
