A review of the extant literature reveals a recent growth in critical criminological analyses of rural crime and societal reactions to it. Nevertheless, rural critical criminology is still in a state of infancy and requires much more development. Thus, heavily influenced by Taylor, Walton, and Young’s(1973) path-breaking book The New Criminology and by research on woman abuse in rural communities, the main objective of this article, then, is twofold: (1) to describe the key reasons for a more fully developed rural critical criminology and (2) to outline some of its key elements. Karakteristik butir dan subtes dari Tes Potensi Akademik (TPA) versi 07A diteliti berdasarkan data jawaban 198 pelamar Program Magister Psikologi UGM tahun 2007, sementara validitas prediksi tes dianalisis berdasarkan data jawaban 80 mahasiswa yang diterima. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa butir-butir subtes verbal, kuantitatif, dan penalaran memiliki tingkat kesulitan sedang, indeks daya beda sangat baik, dan distraktor berfungsi dengan baik. Semua skor subtes memiliki koefisien reliabilitas yang sangat tinggi, demikian juga skor TPA. Namun, analisis validitas skor TPA kurang dapat memprediksi IPK semester pertama. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan signifikansi dan kualifikasi: (1) level pada faktor banyaknya butir anchor, banyaknya kategori butir politomus, ukuran sampel, dan metode transformasi yang digunakan; dan (2) kombinasi level antar-faktor yang mempengaruhi hasil penyetaraan tes model campuran 3PL/GPCM. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian simulasi. Data dibangkitkan berdasarkan data empirik dari tes bentuk campuran yang terdiri atas 30 butir pilihan ganda dan 5 butir uraian. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan keterampilan pneumatik pada mahasiswa yang diajar dengan strategi pembelajaran lengkap dan demonstrasi sesuai berdasarkan kemampuan analitiknya pada pembelajaran mata kuliah Pneumatik Hidroulik. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian quasi eksperimen dengan variabel terikat keterampilan pneumatik, variabel bebas strategi pembelajaran, dan variabel atribut kemampuan analitik mahasiswa. Rancangan eksperimen faktorial 2x2 dengan dua ta-raf kualifikasi variabel bebas yaitu strategi pembelajaran lengkap dan demonstrasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui banyaknya dimensi perangkat tes UAN Matematika tahun 2003, 2005, dan 2006. Dalam penelitian ini, yang dimaksud dengan dimensi adalah subkemampuan yang ada dalam kemampuan matematik. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif eksploratif. Data utama penelitian ini adalah respon siswa peserta Ujian Akhir Nasional yang ada di Provinsi D.I. Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui model konstruk dan struktural kinerja kepala sekolah. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberi sumbangan terhadap pengukuran kinerja kepala sekolah di masa yang akan datang. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian expost facto dengan populasi guru dan kepala sekolah dasar di Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. Sampel sebanyak 1239 guru dan 208 kepala sekolah dasar dipilih secara acak. Data guru dan kepala sekolah dianalisis dengan Second-Order Confirmatory Factor Analysis (Second-Order CFA) secara terpisah dan divalidasi silang dengan multi-sample CFA. Pengetahuan tentang kognisi mengacu pada tingkat pemahaman siswa terhadap memori, sistim kognitif, dan cara belajar yang dimilikinya. Sedangkan pengaturan dari kognisi mengacu pada seberapa baik siswa dalam mengatur sistim belajarnya. Once believed to be a poor inner city neighborhood characteristic, youth violence and crime are now recognized as problems in rural areas as well (Osgood and Chambers 2000). Studies on their etiology remain scarce, particularly with a focus on minority youth. Within the sociological literature rates of lethal violence have theoretically andempirically been associated with urban location. In many advanced industrial countries rising rates of rural suicide have resulted in an unprecedented reversal of the rural-urban suicide differential. This study contributes to the existing literature by examining the implications of rural-urban location within contemporary Durkheimian macro social suicide research. This paper compares predictors of in-school and out-of-school delinquency and is based on data collected from 2,011 subjects at two elementary, one middle, and one high school in a rural school district. Predictors were derived from a variety of theoretical perspectives including social organization and social control; interactionist theory; differential association and social learning; strain, culture conflict, and critical theory. In addition, several demographic variables were included in the analysis. Regression results revealed that negative peer influence, victimization experience, attachment to school, gender, general strain, alienation, and the student’s self-reported response to a weapon at school were significant predictors of …

Prior research has documented a higher rate of violent crime within the South relative to other U.S. regions. Some scholars argue that higher rates of violence in the South are due to the lasting effect of the unique culture of the Scots-Irish immigrants that came into the U.S. in the mid-1700's. This research was aimed to examine and to obtain empirical evidence on audit structure, role conflict, and unclarity role toward auditor performance. This research was done in East Java. Retrieval o f sample was done by using proportionate stratified random sampling based on two strata (partner and audit staff). Data collecting was carried out with questionnaire submitted directly and by airmail. Number o f questionnaires distributed was 120 copies, but only 49 questionnaires returned (40,83%). Results show that audit structure and role conflict have significant effect on auditor performance, but unclarity role does not have significant effect on auditor performance.

Results from multivariate statistical analysis of abiotic parameters conducted during the dry season at 20 accessible sites on 8 rivers, 2 lakes and a dam covering the Lake Tanganyika sub catchment are discussed. Standard methods were used to determine the levels of abiotic parameters from water samples. Physical parameters including DO, EC, Eh, turbidity, temperature, pH and secchi transparency were measured in situ while chlorophyll a was determined in the laboratory. Nutrients such as NO3-, SiO2, PO4 3- and Fe2+ were determined along with HCO3-. Rehabilitation Practice and Science

Schwannoma is a benign encapsulated nerve sheath tumor. It typically develops in middle age with unknown cause and usually involves spinal root and peripheral nerves. We report two cases of schwannoma presenting as palpable mass over lower limbs. Both masses had heterogeneous hypoechogenicity, faint posterior enhancement, and were located eccentric to a nerve fascicle. Preoperative sonography revealed both patients had nerve tumors derived from nerve fascicles. These cases illustrate how sonographic information about the relationship between mass and surrounding structures can facilitate surgical planning.

Moyamoya disease is an uncommon clinical entity characterized by progressive narrowing and occlusion of the bilateral distal internal carotid arteries, as well as the proximal parts of their major branches, namely, the middle and anterior cerebral arteries. Concomitant development of prominent collateral vascularity in the basal regions of the brain results in the typical angiographic appearance of moyamoya, which literally means a wavering puff of smoke. Moyamoya syndrome refers to findings of moyamoya vasculopathy in the context of known systemic disease. The work-related musculoskeletal disorders among the child care workers could be high given the fact that the workers frequently lift the children and conduct physical actions under inappropriate postures. The objective of this study is to survey the musculoskeletal disorders and potential ergonomic risk factors among the workers in a child care center through an on-site visit and a questionnaire survey. We also used the Chinese Health Questionnaire (CHQ) as a screening questionnaire to detect the emotional distress of the workers.There were 85 workers recruited in our study. Objective: This reviewarticle article describes the etiology, pathogenesis, clinical characters and management of low back pain (LBP) caused by myofascial trigger points (MTrPs), i.e. myofascial low back pain.Findings: Based on the currently available knowledge and our clinical experience, we analyzed the basic and clinical aspects of myofascial LBP. Most cases of myofascial LBP are related to injuries, either current or previous. Active MTrPs that cause LBP are usually activated as a consequence of other etiological lesions. The research consisted of four chapters, beginning with an introduction highlighting the significant global progress in education through scientific and strategic planning aimed at preparing qualified physical education teachers. It focused on evaluating the effectiveness of physical education programs at the University of Anbar from the perspective of fourth-year students during the 2006–2007 academic year.
