Application Of The Asset Mapping Model To Church Based Hiv/Aids Prevention And Control In Aba, Abia State, Nigeria, Godwin Nwadibia Aja

Loma Linda University Electronic Theses, Dissertations & Projects

This study examined whether HIV/AIDS activities were more frequent among churches with needs and assets for HIV/AIDS prevention and control in Aba, Nigeria and whether this connection was mediated by collective efficacy. A cross-sectional design was used to obtain data in two phases. First, a three-step forum focus group discussion (FFGD) method was used to obtain data from 32 representatives of five denominations. Second, a quantitative survey questionnaire was constructed based on the result of the FFGD and the collective efficacy model. A Suffering Messiah? Messianic Expectations In Light Of The Dead Sea Scrolls: The Case Of 1qisa 52:14, Jenifer A. Manginelli Mar 2008

The plausibility of a messianic reading is considered through analysis of the text, followed by an exploration of the likelihood that such a connection would have been made on the basis of what we can discern of the Qumran community's …

Liturgical Prayers In Honor Of Saint Vincent De Paul, John E. Rybolt C.M., Ph.D.

Vincentian Studies

Nineteen sets of short liturgical prayers, honoring Vincent de Paul are presented in Latin and English, accompanied by brief summaries of the texts. They span the time from 1668 to 1973. The prayers cite Vincent’s piety and ministry. They ask for the supplicants to be inspired by and endowed with his virtues, especially his charity, to continue his service. His intercession is also requested. A twentieth Anglican prayer in English is included for completeness. As John Rybolt writes, “What the Church believes about Saint Vincent, lex credendi, shows a shift in emphasis from the earliest official collects to the …
