Usia Menarche Pada Siswi Sd Dan Sltp Di Kota Bandung, Dian Aryati
Kesmas

Working Trees: Silvopasture, An Agroforestry Practice
Working Trees: Silvopasture, An Agroforestry Practice
Working Trees (USDA-NAC)
Silvopasture integrates trees, livestock, and forage into a single system on one site.
These components diversify income sources. Annual income from grazing and long-term profits from trees respond to different market pressures and reduce risk when combined in the same operation.
Shade from the trees lengthens the forage growing season and improves forage quality. It also increases the comfort level for livestock which reduces stress.
The structure and plant diversity of silvopastures is attractive to many wildlife species including wild turkey, quail, deer, and many songbirds.
Silvopastures are inherently sustainable systems. They increase biological diversity, protect water quality, reduce soil …
The Mexican American Sobador, Convergent Disease Discourse, And Pain Validation In South Texas, Servando Z. Hinojosa
The Mexican American Sobador, Convergent Disease Discourse, And Pain Validation In South Texas, Servando Z. Hinojosa
Anthropology Faculty Publications
This paper examines how Mexican American sobadores (folk manual therapists) provide needed health services to South Texas residents. Operating in a region with high levels of workplace injuries, chronic disease, and low levels of insuredness, sobadores offer a kind of attention that is appealing in terms of cost, accessibility, and cultural familiarity. The latter is particularly evident with respect to two factors: convergent ethnophysiological discourse and pain validation. Injured people can approach the sobador with minimal trepidation, in part, because sobadores and clients have shared ways of talking about the body and disease. Clients can also expect that sobadores will …
The Role Of Lifestyle Factors In Cognitive Aging And Dementia, Tiffany F. Hughes
The Role Of Lifestyle Factors In Cognitive Aging And Dementia, Tiffany F. Hughes
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
It is widely accepted that cognitive abilities decline with normal aging. At the same time it is also recognized that there is variability in the magnitude and rate of decline among aging individuals. A similar phenomenon exists for dementia, where individuals with similar neuropathologic burden present with varying degrees of cognitive impairment. Of importance is determining what factors account for this variability, and whether individuals can modify these factors in order to preserve their cognitive abilities with aging or delay the onset of dementia.
The purpose of this dissertation was to examine three potentially modifiable lifestyle factors' association with age-related …

Communication Systems And Hiv/Aids Sexual Decision Making In Older Adolescent And Young Adult Females, Rasheeta D. Chandler Ms, Arnp, Fnp-Bc
Communication Systems And Hiv/Aids Sexual Decision Making In Older Adolescent And Young Adult Females, Rasheeta D. Chandler Ms, Arnp, Fnp-Bc
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) is a national priority for several reasons including its endemic/pandemic status and economic demand. Adolescents 15 to 24 years old who are sexually active acquire nearly half of all new Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs). Recent findings from the Centers of Disease Control (CDC) have documented increased teen birth rates, escalating births to unwed mothers, and STIs ascribed to one in four adolescent females, are reasons to enhance effective prevention efforts.
The specific aim of the study, based on Bandura's social cognitive theory, was to test associations among communication system methods and …
The Many Faces Of Fear: Comparing The Pathways And Impacts Of Nonconsumptive Predator Effects On Prey Populations, Evan L. Preisser, Daniel I. Bolnick
The Many Faces Of Fear: Comparing The Pathways And Impacts Of Nonconsumptive Predator Effects On Prey Populations, Evan L. Preisser, Daniel I. Bolnick
Biological Sciences Faculty Publications
Background:
Most ecological models assume that predator and prey populations interact solely through consumption: predators reduce prey densities by killing and consuming individual prey. However, predators can also reduce prey densities by forcing prey to adopt costly defensive strategies.
Methodology/Principal Findings:
We build on a simple Lotka-Volterra predator-prey model to provide a heuristic tool for distinguishing between the demographic effects of consumption (consumptive effects) and of anti-predator defenses (nonconsumptive effects), and for distinguishing among the multiple mechanisms by which anti-predator defenses might reduce prey population growth rates. We illustrate these alternative pathways for nonconsumptive effects with selected empirical examples, and …

A Reverse Transcriptase-Pcr Assay For Detecting Filarial Infective Larvae In Mosquitoes, Sandra J. Laney, Caitlin J. Buttaro, Sabato Visconti, Nils Pilotte, Reda M.R. Ramzy, Gary J. Weil, Steven A. Williams
Biological Sciences: Faculty Publications
Background: Existing molecular assays for filarial parasite DNA in mosquitoes cannot distinguish between infected mosquitoes that contain any stage of the parasite and infective mosquitoes that harbor third stage larvae (L3) capable of establishing new infections in humans. We now report development of a molecular L3-detection assay for Brugia malayi in vectors based on RT-PCR detection of an L3-activated gene transcript.
Methodology/Principal Findings: Candidate genes identified by bioinformatics analysis of EST datasets across the B. malayilife cycle were initially screened by PCR using cDNA libraries as templates. Stage-specificity was confirmed using RNA isolated from infected mosquitoes. Mosquitoes were collected daily …
Plumage Ornamentation As An Indicator Of Female Age And An Influence In Male Mate Choice In Protonotaria Citrea, The Prothonotary Warbler In Virginia., Terry Smith
Theses and Dissertations
Flamboyant plumage and ornamentation is common and well-known in male birds; it serves as a sexual display to attract potential mates. While flamboyant plumage is less common and usually more subtle in female birds, it does occur in some species such as Dark-Eyed Juncos (Junco hyemalis) and Prothonotary Warblers (Protonotaria citrea). Prothonotary Warblers display relatively subtle sexual dimorphism. This study examines variations in tail spot patterns in Prothonotary Warblers and relates those variations to age in females. Females with fewer than six spots tend to be two years old or younger; females with six spots or more tend to be …

Grid Marketing And Beef Carcass Quality: A Discussion Of Issues And Trends, Scott Fausti, Bashir Qasmi, Matthew Diersen
Grid Marketing And Beef Carcass Quality: A Discussion Of Issues And Trends, Scott Fausti, Bashir Qasmi, Matthew Diersen
Economics Staff Paper Series (1969 - 2017)
Beef industry data suggest that improvements in carcass yield and quality grades have stagnated recently. Empirical analysis, based on USDA market reports, indicates that the share of steer slaughter volume marketed on a grid is less than industry estimates and the growth in market share has stagnated. Trend analysis of market share suggests that grid pricing has become an important marketing channel, but has not become the dominant marketing channel. The lack of industry progress toward achieving the carcass quality goals suggests that grid pricing has not captured the level of market share needed to realize the goals envisioned for …
Effect Of Mulberry Lees Addition On Dough Mixing Characteristics And The Quality Of Mulberry Toast, Jean-Yu Hwang, Wen-Chieh Sung, Yung-Shin Shyu
Effect Of Mulberry Lees Addition On Dough Mixing Characteristics And The Quality Of Mulberry Toast, Jean-Yu Hwang, Wen-Chieh Sung, Yung-Shin Shyu
Journal of Marine Science and Technology–Taiwan
This study evaluated the effects of 10%-30% mulberry lees addition on the dough mixing characteristics and the quality of mulberry toast. Farinogram shows the addition of 30% mulberry lees had the shortest departure time and weakest gluten strength. Peak viscosity, pasting temperature and final viscosity of Rapid Visco Analyser pasting profiles decreased as the addition of mulberry lees increase. Dough with 10% and 20% lees addition had a similar dough expansion rate to that of the control. However, the fermentation rate of the dough with 30% mulberry lees was obviously much slower. The ice-melting onset temperature, peak temperature and enthalpy …
Becoming A Mother Across Cultures: Challenges Nurses Experience Teaching Prenatal Care To Recent Immigrant Sudanese Women, Cathy E. Miller
Becoming A Mother Across Cultures: Challenges Nurses Experience Teaching Prenatal Care To Recent Immigrant Sudanese Women, Cathy E. Miller
Theses and Graduate Projects
The purpose of this project is to provide an overview of Maternal Role Attainment (MRA) theory as discussed in nursing literature and explore how separation from culture may affect the transition to becoming a mother. Nursing issues related to teaching and supporting recent immigrant Sudanese women will also be identified. MRA is a complex developmental and transitional experience for women. In the United States, many women take on this role with the support of their culture, family, friends and community. However, over the past few years, the local public health agency has served a small number of immigrant pregnant Sudanese …
Immunomodulation As A Potential Therapeutic Approach For Alzheimer’S Disease, William Veljko Nikolic
Immunomodulation As A Potential Therapeutic Approach For Alzheimer’S Disease, William Veljko Nikolic
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most prevalent form of progressive dementia and is characterized by the accumulation of amyloid beta (Aß) peptide in the brain and in the cerebral vessels forming cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA). As previously reported, an active immunization strategy of mice with Aß1-42 peptide results in decreased Th1 and increased Th2 cytokine responses as well as an effectively clearance of CNS Aß. This approach has also yielded favorable results for many patients, unfortunately, a small percentage of these study participants developed severe aseptic meningoencephalitis likely secondary to CNS invasion of activated T-cells. We have previously demonstrated …

Background. Tocopherols may protect against prostate cancer and cardiovascular disease (CVD). Methods. We assessed the effect of walnuts, which are rich in tocopherols, on markers of prostate and vascular health in men at risk for prostate cancer. We conducted an 8-week walnut supplement study to examine effects of walnuts on serum tocopherols and prostate specific antigen (PSA). Subjects (n = 21) consumed (in random order) their usual diet +/- a walnut supplement (75 g/d) that was isocalorically incorporated in their habitual diets. Prior to the supplement study, 5 fasted subjects participated in an acute timecourse experiment and had blood taken …
3d A-Mode Ultrasound Calibration And Registration Of The Tibia And Femur For Computer-Assisted Robotic Surgery, Alon Mozes
Open Access Dissertations
Registration is a key component for computer-navigated robot-assisted surgery. Invasive approaches such as fiducial-based and surface matching with mechanical probes are common but ultrasound may provide a non-invasive alternative. If an A-mode ultrasound transducer can be used to percutaneously select data points on the bones, a registration can be determined without needing any incision. This study investigates selecting an A-mode ultrasound transducer, calibrating it, analyzing the ultrasound signal, and using it to register a phantom sawbone tibia and femur as well as cadaveric specimens. This study is performed in conjunction with MAKO Surgical Corp.'s Tactile Guidance System™ (TGS™) at their …
