El artículo aborda la importancia que tuvo la censura durante los años del franquismo en la obra dramática de Manuel y Antonio Machado. Cómo la manipulación de esos textos dio lugar a nuevas escrituras que deformaban la esencia de la escritura teatral original.

This paper focuses on the censorship’s prominent role throughout Francoism and its impact on both Manuel and Antonio Machado’s work. Special attention will be paid to the manipulating of their texts.

El presente artículo analiza la situación de la censura, en su acepción más amplia, en el teatro venezolano durante el período comprendido entre 1900 y 1960. Su desarrollo se realiza teniendo presentes las premisas metodológicas basadas en la Teoría de los motivos y estrategias. En este sentido se presentan los orígenes de la censura, las normas que se establecieron, se reseñan diversos casos donde se observan sus efectos a lo largo del tiempo y se exponen los motivos y estrategias que llevaron a sus autores a plantearse estrategias creativas para efectuar una ruptura y denunciar su presencia en escena.

El presente artículo pretende un doble propósito: por un lado, presentar ocho cartas hasta ahora inéditas que Fernando Lázaro Carreter envió a José María Rodríguez Méndez entre los años 1972 y 1976, y un pequeño artículo a modo de respuesta a toda esa correspondencia escrito recientemente ex profeso para esta publicación por el dramaturgo madrileño; por otro lado, partiendo de los anteriores documentos, el estudio pretende mostrar las evidentes relaciones entre la crítica y la censura teatrales en un momento bastante convulso de la historia reciente de España.

El nombramiento de Gabriel Arias Salgado como Vicesecretario de Educación Popular en 1941 introduce un importante cambio en el ejercicio de la censura franquista. En primer lugar, Arias Salgado decide volver a censurar todo lo que antes habían censurado los sospechosos falangistas radicales protegidos de Serrano Suñer. En segundo lugar, su prevención contra las «pasiones» del público y su recelo contra los artistas conllevan un aumento del número de obras prohibidas o con tachaduras.

On the island of Mota in the Banks Islands, children and adults frequently have their matrilineal and even matrimoiety affiliation, and consequently kin relations, altered and multiplied through various forms of adoption. Most of the 850 Motese count themselves as belonging to several kin groups. This creates personalized kin inventories for each individual. Consequently, an element of choice concerning which relation to emphasize is intrinsic to the Motese kinship system. In this paper, some of the reasons and motivations for these choices are outlined. Chlorinated ethenes (CEs) are widespread ground water contaminants, apparently due to their extensive migration from numerous contamination source points. In this study, a long-term field investigation and aquifer microcosm experiments were combined to evaluate the effectiveness of electron donor materials used to create and maintain subsurface permeable reactive barriers (PRBs) for the enhanced in-situ biodegradation of CEs. The laboratory component includes the first side-by-side comparison of electron donor materials dairy whey, lactate syrup, and Hydrogen Release Compound® (HRC), in which dechlorination rates, fermentation product distributions, and H₂ production were monitored as measures of substrate efficiency. In her article "The Posthuman Ethos in Cyberpunk Science Fiction" María Goicoechea explores the posthuman tendencies of Anglo-American popular culture as they are manifested in the representations of the cyborgs, clones, and artificial intelligences that populate cyberpunk science fiction. Choosing the figure of the cyborg as the central myth of cyberculture, Goicoechea exposes the underlying tensions and contradictions present in cyberpunk prescient visions of humanity's evolution. In her article "The Literary Fantastic in African and English Literature," Terri Ochiagha begins with pointing out that in his Introduction á la literature fantastique, Tzvetan Todorov proposed the theoretical frameworks he believed should be the basis of the identification and analysis of a literary work as fantastic. While Todorov's text is only one of the many treatises on the fantastic in literary scholarship, in most of these African prose is seldom a subject of exemplification or analysis. This study begins with the construction of a bridge that symbolizes the philosophers that impact this study: John Dewey, Elliot Eisner, Maxine Greene, and Delores Liston. The bridge is the beginning of a journey where I analyze the concepts of aesthetics and community. This in-depth analysis culminates with the study of a school that successfully incorporates aesthetics and community into its curriculum. This study explored the role of cultural aesthetic expressions (often also referred to in this study as cultural arts) play in perceptions of learning while individuals are in the ongoing process of being immersed in a non-native culture. This thesis examines press coverage in the Deseret News and Salt Lake Tribune of five female politicians in Utah history: Martha Hughes Cannon (1896), Reva Beck Bosone (1948), Karen Shepherd (1992), Enid Greene Waldholtz (1994), and Olene S. Walker (2003). A total of 438 articles were reviewed using qualitative textual analysis. Coverage by candidate varied, though it was not in general overtly biased concerning candidate gender. However, the press did call attention to the gender of candidate and gendered commentary was present. A 9‐year time series of water column and sediment trap measurements was used to examine silicon cycling within the anoxic Cariaco Basin. The dynamic hydrographic regime within Cariaco Basin results in strong seasonal changes in nutrient availability and the Si:C:N of sinking particles. Upwelling in early winter injects silicic acid (Si(OH)₄⁼ ) and nitrate (NO₃⁻) rich waters into the photic zone which stimulates primary production and results in opal fluxes in excess of 4 mmol Si m⁻² d⁻¹. However, even during upwelling, surface waters tend to be depleted (<1 μM) in …

The present study aimed to evaluate (a) the extent to which different impulsivity measures would be related to each other and to a risk taking measure, (b) the extent to which impulsivity, risk taking, time perception and time perspective are related to each other, and (c) the extent to which these processes differ in Latino and White American students. Obesity and diabetes are frequently associated with cardiovascular disease. When a normal heart is subjected to brief/sublethal repetitive ischemia and reperfusion (I/R), adaptive responses are activated to preserve cardiac structure and function. These responses include but are not limited to alterations in cardiac metabolism, reduced calcium responsiveness, and induction of antioxidant enzymes. In a model of ischemic cardiomyopathy inducible by brief repetitive I/R, we hypothesized that dysregulation of these adaptive responses in diet-induced obese (DIO) mice would contribute to enhanced myocardial injury.
