The first generation of this article was written and published by The Scholar in 2006.1 Because the trend to accessing legal materials is geared more and more toward the Internet, the tour of the book world that was the focus of the original article requires expansion to include those sources available on the World Wide Web.2 Thus, this article contains most of the content in the original article, and then is supplemented by discussions of content currently available from online legal resources.

Archival Allegory? Cultural Studies And T.R. Schellenberg's Modern Archives: Principles And Techniques, Cheryl Beredo
Archival Allegory? Cultural Studies And T.R. Schellenberg's Modern Archives: Principles And Techniques, Cheryl Beredo
Provenance, Journal of the Society of Georgia Archivists
President Franklin D. Roosevelt established the United States National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) in 1934, the same year that Theodore Roosevelt Schellenberg earned his doctorate in history from the University of Pennsylvania and began a career in archives. Schellenberg slowly and surely climbed the archival ranks, holding federal posts in Washington, D.C., and teaching archival-training courses at local universities; he later lectured on a variety of topics relating to archives in Latin America, Australia, and New Zealand. In 1950 Schellenberg was appointed to the prestigious position of director of Archival Management at NARA. Schellenberg soon published Modern Archives: Principles …

Archival Work In A Surreal World: The Imagination Of George Saunders, Erica Olsen
Provenance, Journal of the Society of Georgia Archivists
When George Saunders’s first collection of short stories, CivilWarLand in Bad Decline, came out in 1996 reviewers emphasized the surrealism of his fictional world of run-down theme parks and virtual-reality franchise businesses: "… a nightmarish post-apocalyptic world that might have been envisioned by Walt Disney on acid," wrote the Philadelphia Inquirer, while Newsweek called it "a cybernetic, postapocalyptic dystopia."

Responsibility Status Of The Psychopath: On Moral Reasoning And Rational Self-Governance, Paul J. Litton

This article does not aim to describe the opposing views and argue for one over the other. Rather, I propose to deflate the debate as far as possible, attempting to reduce the area of disagreement. Meaningful disagreement exists only if there are, or could be, agents who have an undiminished capacity for practical reasoning or rational self-governance, yet truly are incapable of moral reasoning. However, I suggest that the capacity for rational self-governance entails the capacity to comprehend and act on moral considerations; thus, to the extent that an individual truly is incapable of grasping moral reasons, we should expect …

Who Can Be Against Fairness? The Case Against The Arbitration Fairness Act, Peter B. Rutledge
Who Can Be Against Fairness? The Case Against The Arbitration Fairness Act, Peter B. Rutledge
Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution
In this brief essay, I hope to lay out the case against the Arbitration Fairness Act. Part I of this Article addresses the "findings" on which the act is premised. It explains how in several respects the current research on arbitration flatly contradicts the premises animating those findings (in other respects, the data is incomplete, so the "findings" at best are better described as "untested hypotheses" or "assumptions"). Part II of this Article explains why postdispute arbitration is not a viable alternative to our present system of enforceable predispute arbitration clauses.

The Psychic Life Of Denial, Susan Derwin
Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution
Holocaust deniers have an investment in taking a defensive stance. Theodor Adorno noted that to haggle about how many millions of innocent people were murdered in the Holocaust is degrading. Haggling about numbers is central to holocaust denial. Deborah Lipstadt's investigation of the nuances and varieties of deniers' claims across cultures makes it evident that, whatever their political or ideological objectives, deniers undertake their haggling in response to what they perceive to be an aggressive manipulation of history. Deniers charge that the manipulators are the Jews, who have inflated the number of Jewish deaths during World War II to garner …

Empowering Students In Information Literacy Practices Using A Collaborative Digital Library For School Projects, Awang Ngah Zainab, Abdullah Abrizah
Research Publications (2006 to 2010)
This paper examines the affordances that a collaborative digital library (CDL) can bring to bear on supporting information literacy practices in the digital information environment. It suggests that the digital library can contribute to student empowerment in information literacy practices while searching, using and collaboratively building the digital library resources. To illustrate this, the authors have been experimenting with the implementation of an integrated information literacy model based on Eisenberg and Berkowitzâ Big 6 Model and describes the CDL features in association with the information literacy dimensions in this model. The CDL focuses on the project-based learning approach to conduct …

Subsequently, the test materials were paired and analysed for initial (0.25, 0.5, 1 hour) and delayed response (24, …
Animal-Referring Words In Malay Idioms: A Lexical Function Analysis, S. Jaafar
Animal-Referring Words In Malay Idioms: A Lexical Function Analysis, S. Jaafar
Research Publications (2006 to 2010)
Malay language has many ways in describing various things and events. Idioms are used as one of the very fine ways to say something in order to save the listeners' face. Every word chosen in idiomatic phrases has its own meaning. Compared to the common words used daily, the words chosen in idiomatic phrases are much related to the way of thinking among the Malay people. They show creativity in that they relate to the surrounding world as a symbolic in telling something. Nowadays, idioms are almost forgotten by the Malay younger generation. They only learn idioms as a compulsory …

Phenotypic And Genotypic Characterisation Of Blastocystis Hominis Isolates Implicates Subtype 3 As A Subtype With Pathogenic Potential, T.C. Tan, K.G. Suresh, H.V. Smith
Research Publications (2006 to 2010)
Despite frequent reports on the presence of Blastocystis hominis in human intestinal tract, its pathogenicity remains a matter of intense debate. These discrepancies may be due to the varying pathogenic potential or virulence of the isolates studied. The present study represents the first to investigate both phenotypic and genotypic characteristics of B. hominis obtained from symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals. Symptomatic isolates had a significantly greater size range and lower growth rate in Jones' medium than asymptomatic isolates. The parasite cells of symptomatic isolates exhibited rougher surface topography and greater binding affinity to Canavalia ensiformis (ConA) and Helix pomatia (HPA). The …
