(2008) Northwood Stomwater Technologies And Town Of Northwood Buffer Ordinance, Ttg Environmental Consultants, Llc
PREP Reports & Publications
TTG Environmental Consultants, LLC (TEC), under contract to the New Hampshire Estuaries Project and in conjunction with the Northwood Water Resources Sub-Committee, has prepared this report on stormwater technologies appropriate for the Town of Northwood, NH. This report is divided into two (2) main sections with a number of subsections. The first section describes the need for stormwater management, and the second section describes stormwater management technologies that are appropriate for Northwood. Stormwater management has been evolving for many years, from a need to convey stormwater away from or through a developed site, to the realization that land development has …

Background
Rotavirus (RV), is a member of the Reoviridae family and an important etiological agent of acute viral gastroenteritis in the young. Rotaviruses have a wide host range infecting a broad range of animal species, however little is known about rotavirus infection in exotic animals. In this paper we report the first characterisation of a RV strain from a giraffe calf.
Results
This report describes the identification and detailed molecular characterisation of a rotavirus strain detected from a 14-day-old Giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis), presenting with acute diarrhea. The RV strain detected from the giraffe was characterized molecularly as G10P[11]. …

Comprehension And Retention: The Effect Of Concrete Details And Causal Structure In Scientific Narrative, Wendi Michelle Wilcken
Comprehension And Retention: The Effect Of Concrete Details And Causal Structure In Scientific Narrative, Wendi Michelle Wilcken
Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this study was to examine two of the salient elements of instructional narratives as a guide to instructional practice. The literature summarized in this report discusses the theoretical basis for narrative impact on comprehension and retention, enumerates and defines possible salient narrative elements from the literature, and examines the instructional impact of two of these elements: concrete details and causal structure. This is intended to help provide guidance to instructional designers and teachers who desire to use narrative in science instruction. Participants included 94 high school physics students. An experimental research design of 2 (Gender) x 2 …

Mirrors, Wolves And Tornadoes-Oh My! An Intertextual Exploration Of Guillermo Del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth, Pamela Painter Decius
Mirrors, Wolves And Tornadoes-Oh My! An Intertextual Exploration Of Guillermo Del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth, Pamela Painter Decius
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
I argue that Guillermo Del Toro is a modern day storyteller, writing his film script as Ovid, The Grimms, or even Baum would pen their tales. I expand the idea of intertextuality to include not only conversations, thoughts, architecture, emotions, bodily activity, sounds, and innumerable other signifiers, but also analyzing the film "inter-imagically." By considering the film in this way it encourages a world conversation that can influence socio-political transformations in our world.
I use the stories and images in myth, fairy tale and children's literature to support the importance of agency, agency in regard to finding your own voice, …
The Role Of Abiotic And Biotic Factors In Suspension Feeding Mechanics Of Xenopus Tadpoles, William G. Ryerson
The Role Of Abiotic And Biotic Factors In Suspension Feeding Mechanics Of Xenopus Tadpoles, William G. Ryerson
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
As a comparison to the suction feeding mechanics in aquatic environments, I investigated buccal pumping in an ontogenetic series of suspension feeding Xenopus laevis tadpoles (4-18 mm snout-vent length) by examining the morphology, kinematics, fluid flow, pressure generated in the buccal cavity, and effects of viscosity manipulation. Investigation of the dimensions of the feeding apparatus of Xenopus revealed that the feeding muscles exhibited strong negative allometry, indicating that larger tadpoles had relatively smaller muscles, while the mechanical advantage of those muscles did not change across the size range examined. Buccal volume and head width also exhibited negative allometry: smaller tadpoles …
