Electro-Thermal Transport In Nanotube Based Composites For Macroelectronic Applications, Satish Kumar Oct 2007

Electro-Thermal Transport In Nanotube Based Composites For Macroelectronic Applications, Satish Kumar

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Masters Theses

Dispersions of particles of different shapes and sizes in fluids or solids modify the transport properties of the underlying matrix. A remarkable enhancement in the electrical, thermal and other transport properties of the matrix due to the long aspect ratio dispersions like nanotube/nanowires has been observed my many research groups. This has motivated tremendous research to explore these composites for various macro-electronic and micro-electronic applications in the last decade. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) network based thin-film transistors (TFTs) promise improved performance for flexible plastic electronics with potential applications in displays, e-paper, e-clothing, bio-chemical sensing, conformal radar, and others. A detailed theoretical …

Fept Nanodot Arrays With Perpendicular Easy Axis, Large Coercivity, And Extremely High Density, Chaehyun Kim, Thomas Loedding, Seongjin Jang, Hao Zeng, Zhen Li, Yucheng Sui, David J. Sellmyer Oct 2007

Fept Nanodot Arrays With Perpendicular Easy Axis, Large Coercivity, And Extremely High Density, Chaehyun Kim, Thomas Loedding, Seongjin Jang, Hao Zeng, Zhen Li, Yucheng Sui, David J. Sellmyer

David Sellmyer Publications

Ordered FePt nanodot arrays with extremely high density have been developed by physical vapor deposition using porous alumina templates as evaporation masks. Nanodot diameter of 18 nm and periodicity of 25 nm have been achieved, resulting in an areal density exceeding 1 x1012 dots/in2. Rapid thermal annealing converts the disordered fcc to L10 phase, resulting in (001)-oriented FePt nanodot arrays with perpendicular anisotropy and large coercivity, without the need of epitaxy. High anisotropy and coercivity, perpendicular easy axis orientation and extremely high density are desirable features for future magnetic data storage media applications.

Uh-Oh, We Have To Stage An Invitation To Albuquerque! Making A Movie To Promote And Scc/Mla Conference: Library On The Edge Of Forever, Dick Carr, Charity Karcher, Holly Phillips, Ed Merta

Posters and Presentations

Objection: One of the first steps in hosting an SCC/MLA Annual Meeting is the invitation given by the host group to encourage attendance at the following years conference. This poster describes how the Albuquerque hosts created the movie invitation to the 2007 meeting. The goal was to entertain in order to inform potential attendees and advertise Albuquerque. Methods: We brainstormed various possibilities and decided to try something different: a movie. We wanted to employ humor, libraries, and Albuquerque local color. We used free software bundled on our library computers, Windows Movie Maker, and a home digital camcorder. Library faculty reviewed …

Posters and Presentations

Question:Does using the University of New Mexicos (UNM) institutional repository DSpaceUNM to publish nontraditional academic content, such as data sets, posters, and presentations, have tangible scholarly benefits for investigators. Participants: The study population is all registered users who have submitted scholarly work to the DSpaceUNM institutional repository. Setting: The study will take place at the UNM, a large academic institution located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Method: An email will be sent to all DSpaceUNM users to learn if authors of archived information have gained any real professional value by posting their work to DSpaceUNM.
