Habitat loss, degradation and fragmentation are an issue of primary concern in the area of Village Barali Kass. The purpose of this study was to look at the causes which exploit these meagre and fragile forest resources in the area and what are the measures to nullify this situation.

In the last three decades we witness the rise of global capitalism that dominates the world. It has been quite successful in persuading governments around the globe to adopt and pursue its values, norms and policies. A High Resolution Satellite-Only Grace-Based Mean Dynamic Topography Of The South Atlantic Ocean, Marcio L. Vianna, Viviane V. Menezes, D. Chambers

A new filtering method based on Singular Spectrum Analysis has been devised to extract high resolution (0.25° × 0.25° grid) satellite-only Mean Dynamic Ocean Topography(MDT) constructed by differencing of the GGM02 GRACE Gravity Model from the GSFCMSS00 Mean Sea Surface. This data-adaptive interpolation-type filter is adequate for the finite domain MDT processing since it minimizes smoothing and does not lose boundary points. It is applied to the computation of two new MDTs and MDT-derived mean geostrophic circulation maps of the South Atlantic region from 15°N to 50°S. Tidal Asymmetry And Residual Circulation Over Linear Sandbanks And Their Implication On Sediment Transport: A Process-Oriented Numerical Study, Rosario Sanay, George Voulgaris, John C. Warner

A series of process-oriented numerical simulations is carried out in order to evaluate the relative role of locally generated residual flow and overtides on net sediment transport over linear sandbanks. The idealized bathymetry and forcing are similar to those present in the Norfolk Sandbanks, North Sea. The importance of bottom drag parameterization and bank orientation with respect to the ambient flow is examined in terms of residual flow and overtide generation, and subsequent sediment transport implications are discussed. As argued by Samuel Huntington, glob­ alization is causing increasing interactions between peoples who previously would not have had any interac­ tion with each other. UME Faculty and Staff Educational Scholarship

Purpose: We used a narrative technique with volunteer medical students immersed in early clinical experiences in order to 1) offer students a pathway to self-reflection, and 2) offer program directors insight into issues that arise for students. Methodology: Our medical students between their first and second years spend nine summer weeks working in a clinical practice somewhere in the state. Self-selected students (9 in 2005, 22 in 2006), wrote reflectively once a week, via e-mail, to volunteer physician mentors on campus, sharing observations, feelings, and ideas. Mentors responded in kind to the content of these experiential writings. At the end …
