Suppressing Delta-I Noise In Mcml Circuits In Mixed Signal Environment, Ritesh Jayant Mehta

This work addresses the problem of simultaneous switching noise (SSN) in mixed signal environment. It is shown that the Metal Oxide Semiconductor Current Mode Logic (MCML) can be used to minimize the SSN. In short channel devices, Drain Induced Barrier Lowering (DIBL) effect causes the current mismatch problem. It is seen that this current mismatch problem aggravates SSN. Basic logic gates were designed using MCML topology at 5 Gbps. Parasitic model was introduced at power supply lines and substrate to study the behaviour of these logic gates in the presence of parasitics. Interpolation type delay cells were used to suppress …

African American (AA) grandmothers who parent their grandchildren may experience burden related to these responsibilities. Little is known about perceived caregiver burden and its influence on AA grandmother health and service needs. The purpose of this descriptive, correlational research study was to investigate relationships among personal characteristics, information need, perceived burden, perceived health, service need, and service use in AA grandmothers who are the primary caregivers for one or more of their biological grandchildren. Recruited through churches and community centers, 93 AA grandmothers, ages 36 to 78, participated in this study. These grandmothers were primary caregivers for 211 grandchildren. The …

This project explored the development of serious play as a personal competency of creative leadership and as a dimension of a creative organizational climate. Skill development was undertaken through acquiring certification as a LEGO® Serious Play™ facilitator and three workshops were subsequently delivered to a range of clients. The principles of play and Papert’s theory of constructionism were used to develop a serious of creative products as prototypes tried out with clients in the form of team based games. A Laman mechanism is a flexible planar bar-and-joint framework with m ≤ 2n-3 edges and exactly k = 2n-m degrees of freedom. The slider-pinning problem is to eliminate all the degrees of freedom of a Laman mechanism, in an optimal fashion, by individually fixing x or y coordinates of vertices. We describe two easy to implement O(n2) time algorithms.

This study assesses the efficacy of using an intensive professional development program to improve preschool teachers' practices related to early literacy. A mixed methods approach was employed to review secondary data from a federally-funded Early Reading First Grant. The population studied consisted of thirty-one preschool teachers at four diverse programs serving low income children located in the mid-western urban community of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The intensive professional development used in this study resulted in significant improvements in the mean scores for all areas of the Early Language and Literacy Classroom Observation (ELLCO) when comparing baseline to the final scores in …

This qualitative research study used elements of phenomenological and narrative research methodology to explore the common characteristics and experiences of a sample of resilient elementary teachers working in urban schools. The six research subjects in this study’s sample each had at least eight years of teaching experience, and each participated in a cycle of three in-depth interviews designed to determine their degree of resilience and to develop a portrait of their personal and professional characteristics, experiences, attitudes and beliefs. Estimating Evapotranspiration And Seepage For A Sinkhole Wetland From Diurnal Surface-Water Cycles, A. Jason Hill, Vincent S. Neary

This study used measured diurnal surface-water cycles to estimate daily evapotranspiration (ET) and seepage for a seasonally flooded sinkhole wetland. Diurnal surface-water cycles were classified into five categories based on the relationship between the surface-water body and the surrounding ground-water system (i.e., recharge/discharge). Only one class of diurnal cycles was found to be suitable for application of this method. This subset of diurnal cycles was used to estimate ET and seepage and the relative importance of each transfer process to the overall water budget. The method has limited utility for wetlands with erratic hydrologic regimes (e.g., wetlands in urban environments). …

This policy brief reports findings from a survey of parent leaders in 2007 that sought to understand what parents of English Learners and Standard English Learners think about the education of their children and about parent education and involvement in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). Surveys with 513 LAUSD parent leaders revealed low ratings for LAUSD’s parent education efforts as well as for student academic programs. Open-ended responses point both to educational as well as policy recommendations in the following areas: 1) home/school collaboration; 2) professional development, curriculum and Instruction, and tutors/support; and 3) accountability.
