This document serves as the biological assessment for the Bureau of Reclamation's (Reclamation) re-initiation of consultation on the operation of Glen Canyon Dam and proposed experimental flows for the Colorado River below Glen Canyon Dam during the years 2008-2012. It is prepared by Reclamation as part of its compliance with the Endangered Species Act of 1973 (ESA), 87 Stat. 884, as amended, 16 U.S.C. section 1531 et seq. This document is designed to facilitate compliance with Sections 7 and 9 of the ESA with respect to potential effects to listed species within the United States (US).

This thesis will specifically focus on the mode of expression in comic books rather than the content. It will be more concerned with questions of how people read comics than why they read comics. The questions of how people read comics can most productively be handled with semiotics, the branch of the philosophy of language that deals with signs. In this thesis, a unique landmark identification and matching method is proposed for identifying and matching distinguishable landmarks for 3D Visual Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) in unknown cluttered Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) environments. The novelty of the method is the utilization of both 3D (i.e., depth images) and 2D images. By utilizing a Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) -based approach and incorporating 3D depth imagery, more reliable and robust recognition and iv matching of landmarks from multiple images for 3D mapping of the environment is achieved.
