Australian Information Security Management Conference

Information security is vital for protecting important assets of organisations, including the information resources and the organisation’s reputation. In Australia, the nonprofit sector makes a significant contribution to society but is under represented in the information security literature. This paper describes research in progress that is investigating and improving information security management in some nonprofit organisations (NPOs), which incorporates a participatory action research methodology. This approach will enhance the skill set likely to be present in Australian nonprofit organisations, producing a more sustainable solution, as well as contributing to the open literature. Initiatives

Eliminates certain restrictions on prisoners’ participation in educational and substance dependency classes and family visitation programs. Prohibits exclusion based on sentence, custody designation, prior crimes or disciplinary offenses and commitment offenses. Provides that inmates condemned to die are not eligible for family visitation program. Allows family visitation privileges only to inmates who: (1) are not residing in reception centers or administrative segregation/security housing units; (2) are competent to and have obtained a high school diploma or equivalent; (3) agree to random drug testing; (4) pay $25 toward cost of a visit. The present invention relates to ellipsometer systems, and more particularly to ellipsometer systems comprising trans missive rotating or stepwise rotatable compensators for continuously or step-wise varying polarization states and further comprising transmissive multi-element lens focusing of a spectroscopic electromagnetic beam into a small, chromatically relatively undispersed area spot on a sample system. The ellipsometer system optionally is present in an environmental control chamber.

This invention relates to therapeutic and diagnostic methods and compositions based on Jagged/Notch proteins and nucleic acids, and on their role in the signaling pathway relating to endothelial cell migration and/or differentiation. In addition, this invention provides a substantially purified Jagged protein, as well as a substantially purified nucleic acid or segment thereof encoding Jagged protein, or a functionally equivalent derivative, or allelic or species variant thereof.

An Evaluation Of Compatibility, Effectiveness, Utility, And Implementation Of Plagiarism-Detection Software Operating In The Honor Code Environment At Brigham Young University, George Louis Joeckel

Theses and Dissertations

Turnitin plagiarism-detection software was operating as a pilot program conducted by the Center for Teaching and Learning in Winter 2007 on the Brigham Young University (BYU) campus. A sample of 6 instructors and 79 student users participated in this evaluation. The evaluation findings show that Turnitin is compatible with the academic honesty environment created by BYU's Honor Code. Turnitin has been effective at detecting intentional and inadvertent plagiarism at BYU. It has also addressed the problem of multiple submissions of the same material. Recommendations are made for promoting Turnitin at the campus and department level. Training tools are proposed for …

The currently emerging trend of building more complex web applications to solve increasingly more involved software problems has led to the the need for a more automated and practical means for deploying resources required by these advanced web applications. As web based applications become more complex and involve more developers, greater system redundancy, and a larger number of components, traditional means of resource deployment become painfully inadequate as they fail to scale sufficiently.
