H-Sip Inter-Domain Sip Mobility: Design, Chaouki T. Abdallah, Joud S. Khoury, Henry N. Jerez Jan 2007

H-Sip Inter-Domain Sip Mobility: Design, Chaouki T. Abdallah, Joud S. Khoury, Henry N. Jerez

Electrical & Computer Engineering Faculty Publications

Supporting mobility in IP networks is a crucial step towards satisfying the nomadic communication paradigms on the current Internet. The Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) presents one approach towards supporting IP mobility and is increasingly gaining in popularity as the next generation multimedia signaling and session establishment protocol. In this paper, we explore the design of an efficient approach to inter-domain SIP mobility in an attempt to improve personal and terminal mobility schemes. We apply a persistent identification framework to application level SIP addressing by introducing a level of indirection on top of the traditional SIP architecture. We show how this …

Randomized Algorithms For Analysis And Control Of Uncertain Systems-[Book Review; R. Tempo, G. Calafiore, And F. Dabbene], Chaouki T. Abdallah, Peter Dorato

Electrical & Computer Engineering Faculty Publications

This is the first book that fully covers both randomized algorithms and robust control design. Some of the major topics covered include: a review of probability theory; the robust control problem; computational complexity; probabilistic methods for robust analysis; review of Monte Carlo and quasi-Monte Carlo methods; randomized algorithms for robust analysis and synthesis; sample size bounds for estimation and optimization sequential algorithms; and random number generation. It includes applications of randomized algorithms to some control problems. This unique book could be used as a text for a graduate level special-topics course on random algorithms for robust control. It is also …

Unpacking Pandora's Box: Innovative Techniques For Effectively Counseling Asylum Applicants Suffering From Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Carol M. Suzuki Jan 2007

Unpacking Pandora's Box: Innovative Techniques For Effectively Counseling Asylum Applicants Suffering From Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Carol M. Suzuki

Faculty Scholarship

Many asylum seekers are denied relief in the United States because the asylum officer or immigration judge evaluating the case does not believe the asylum applicant is telling the truth. The applicant may appear not to be credible because his story of persecution lacks sufficient detail and is inconsistent. A victim of severe and often prolonged trauma may develop post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which profoundly affects his ability to tell a consistent and detailed story of past persecution. Thus, an asylum seeker suffering from PTSD as a result of traumatic experiences, desperately in need of a safe haven, may be …

A History Of America's First Jim Crow Law School Library And Staff, Ernesto A. Longa

Faculty Scholarship

Paper relies heavily on African-American newspapers and archival materials from Lincoln University and the AALL Archive to tell the story of Lincoln University Law School (1939-1955), provide biographical sketches of its African-American law librarians, and expose the racism within the American Association of Law Libraries during the 1930s, 40s and 50s.

Hinterland Electrification Strategy, Office Of The Prime Minister, Guyana Jan 2007

Hinterland Electrification Strategy, Office Of The Prime Minister, Guyana

Latin American Energy Dialogue, White Papers and Reports

The Government of Guyana, as part of its socio-economic development and poverty alleviation objective, has embarked on a program to extend electricity to unserved areas where extension of existing distribution networks is deemed to be economically feasible. This document outlines the electrification strategy being used. This strategy includes a description of the potential energy sources in the area (solar, hydropower, wind, biomass, biofuel, diesel) and specifies an approach to test their viability for hinterland electrification.

Provision Of Library And Information Services To The Visually Challenged Students In University Of Ghana, Legon, Efua Mansa Ayiah Mrs Jan 2007

Provision Of Library And Information Services To The Visually Challenged Students In University Of Ghana, Legon, Efua Mansa Ayiah Mrs

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

Visually Challenged students (VCS) in University of Ghana, Legon face various constraints in accessing library and information services. The study was based on Ranganathan’s five principles of librarianship. Literature was reviewed on provision and access to library and information services. The researcher adopted case study, since the sample size was small they were all included in the study. Descriptive data analysis technique was used to analyze data. Tables and graphs were used to display information. Findings of the study indicated that there is no program for VCS, they were aware of technological developments in information communication technologies (ICT), access to …

Quantization In Astrophysics, Brownian Motion, And Supersymmetry, Florentin Smarandache, Victor Christianto Jan 2007

Quantization In Astrophysics, Brownian Motion, And Supersymmetry, Florentin Smarandache, Victor Christianto

Branch Mathematics and Statistics Faculty and Staff Publications

The present book discusses, among other things, various quantization phenomena found in Astrophysics and some related issues including Brownian Motion. With recent discoveries of exoplanets in our galaxy and beyond, this Astrophysics quantization issue has attracted numerous discussions in the past few years. Most chapters in this book come from published papers in various peer-reviewed journals, and they cover different methods to describe quantization, including Weyl geometry, Supersymmetry, generalized Schrödinger, and Cartan torsion method. In some chapters Navier-Stokes equations are also discussed, because it is likely that this theory will remain relevant in Astrophysics and Cosmology While much of the …

Elementary Fuzzy Matrix Theory And Fuzzy Models For Social Scientists, Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy, K. Ilanthenral Jan 2007

Elementary Fuzzy Matrix Theory And Fuzzy Models For Social Scientists, Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy, K. Ilanthenral

Branch Mathematics and Statistics Faculty and Staff Publications

This book aims to assist social scientists to analyze their problems using fuzzy models. The basic and essential fuzzy matrix theory is given. The book does not promise to give the complete properties of basic fuzzy theory or basic fuzzy matrices. Instead, the authors have only tried to give those essential basically needed to develop the fuzzy model. The authors do not present elaborate mathematical theories to work with fuzzy matrices; instead they have given only the needed properties by way of examples. The authors feel that the book should mainly help social scientists who are interested in finding out …

Special Fuzzy Matrices For Social Scientists, Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy, K. Ilanthenral Jan 2007

Special Fuzzy Matrices For Social Scientists, Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy, K. Ilanthenral

Branch Mathematics and Statistics Faculty and Staff Publications

This book is a continuation of the book, "Elementary fuzzy matrix and fuzzy models for socio-scientists" by the same authors. This book is a little advanced because we introduce a multi-expert fuzzy and neutrosophic models. It mainly tries to help social scientists to analyze any problem in which they need multi-expert systems with multi-models. To cater to this need, we have introduced new classes of fuzzy and neutrosophic special matrices. The first chapter is essentially spent on introducing the new notion of different types of special fuzzy and neutrosophic matrices, and the simple operations on them which are needed in …
