Information Literacy At Augustana: A Programmatic Approach, Nancy E. Goebel, Paul J. Neff
Information Literacy At Augustana: A Programmatic Approach, Nancy E. Goebel, Paul J. Neff
Communications in Information Literacy
Information literacy programs, and the factors that influence their development and structure, can vary significantly from institution to institution. Credit-bearing discipline-specific information literacy courses are a rare and valuable component of an undergraduate educational experience and form the basis of Augustana's information literacy program. This article provides an overview of the development, implementation, successes, and drawbacks of the credit-bearing discipline-specific information literacy courses at the Augustana Campus of the University of Alberta (Camrose, Alberta, Canada). Additional program components including Augustana's annual information literacy workshop, information literacy awards, information literacy DVD, and marketing/branding, are discussed.
Trust In International Organizations: An Empirical Investigation Focusing On The United Nations, Benno Torgler
Trust In International Organizations: An Empirical Investigation Focusing On The United Nations, Benno Torgler
Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei Working Papers
The literature on social capital has strongly increased in the last two decades, but there still is a lack of substantial empirical evidence about the determinants of international trust. This empirical study analyses a cross-section of individuals, using micro-data from the World Values Survey, covering 38 countries, to investigate trust in international organizations, specifically in the United Nations. In line with previous studies on international trust we find that political trust matters. We also find that social trust is relevant, but contrary to previous studies the results are less robust. Moreover, the paper goes beyond previous studies investigating also the …

The "Life And Miracles" Of Fisher Alumnus…, Matthew Cotugno
Verbum
In lieu of an abstract, below is the essay's first paragraph.
"Before arriving to St. John Fisher College, I was your typical teenage student. I worked hard in school, enjoyed spending time with my friends, and was very close to my family. Granted, I did try to differentiate myself from the rest by joining various clubs such as Peer Ministry and the literary magazine; however, these activities were just the norm and my role was often minor. It would not be until my arrival at St. John Fisher College that my journey of growth would begin."
American Children Encountering The Bible: Ensuring Engagement Through The American Education System And The Children’S Bible, Zachary S. Teicher
American Children Encountering The Bible: Ensuring Engagement Through The American Education System And The Children’S Bible, Zachary S. Teicher
Religious Studies Honors Projects
Society and parents continue to ensure that American children are familiar with the stories of the bible. The bible is part of the American cultural milieu and has been inculcated in successive generations through schools and children’s bibles. Parents in the twenty-first century have turned to adapted children’s bibles as the principal means by which to teach their children the bible. This is due in large part to the bible loosing its place in the curriculum of American public schools. This paper examines how children's bibles developed, why teaching the bible has been a priority, and who have been the …
