Cdna Cloning And Nucleotide Sequencing Of Human Connective Tissue Growth Factor Obtained From Primary Pulpal Fibroblasts, Pasutha Thunyakitpisal
Chulalongkorn University Dental Journal
Objective To clone human connective tissue growth factor (hCTGF) from pulpal fibroblasts. Materials and methods Primary human pulpal fibroblasts were isolated from pulpal tissues. The reverse transcriptase-PCR assay was used to amplify the cDNA of hCTGF. The amplified PCR products were ligated into the TOPO R cloning vector and transformed into competent bacteria cells. The putative clones were bidirectionally sequenced to analyze nucleotide sequence and compare with hCTGF cDNA sequence references. Results From RT-PCR reaction, expression of CTGF mRNA was detected in human pulpal fibroblast. Through bi-directional sequencing analysis, nucleotide sequence of our hCTGF has 100% homology to the hCTGF …

Drought— But Not Dust Bowl, Mike Mccurry, Trevor Brooks, Donna Hess
SDSU Extension Extra Archives
In 2006, fears that the drought in South Dakota would be worse than that of the 1930s made the pages of the New York Times (1). Indeed, this 21st Century drought is serious but, in terms of sheer human misery, it doesn’t match what was called the Dust Bowl, the Great Depression, and the Dirty Thirties. Back when South Dakota State University was South Dakota A&M, rural sociologists conducted studies of the Dust Bowl, so now we can compare the two droughts. “A Graphic Summary of the Relief Situation in South Dakota (1930-1935)” shows numbers of people on relief, number …

SHPS‐1/SIRPα1 is a transmembrane glycoprotein that belongs to the immunoglobulin (Ig) super family. In the present study, we show that SHPS‐1 strongly associates with Concanavalin A (Con A), a plant lectin obtained from jack beans. Further studies with SHPS‐1 mutants reveal that the extracellular domain of SHPS‐1 containing the Ig sequence is responsible for its association with Con A. Con A treatment induces cross‐linking and multimerization of the SHPS‐1 protein in the plasma membrane, accompanied by its tyrosine phosphorylation and recruitment of SHP‐2. In contrast, Ricinus communis agglutinin (RCA), another lectin obtained from castor bean, does not bind or activate …

The New Hampshire Estuaries Project (NHEP) is part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) National Estuary Program, which is a collaborative local/state/federal program established under the Clean Water Act with the goal of protecting and enhancing nationally significant estuaries. The NHEP receives most of its funding from the EPA and is administered by the University of New Hampshire. The mission of the NHEP is to protect, restore, and monitor the environmental quality of the state’s estuaries, including the Great Bay Estuary and the Hampton-Seabrook Estuary. Materials Engineering
This study examines the use of a modified form of the Theory of Planned Behavior in understanding the decisions of undergraduate students in engineering and humanities to engage in cheating. We surveyed 527 randomly selected students from three academic institutions. Results supported the use of the model in predicting ethical decision-making regarding cheating. In particular, the model demonstrated how certain variables (gender, discipline, high school cheating, education level, international student status, participation in Greek organizations or other clubs) and moral constructs related to intention to cheat, attitudes toward cheating, perceptions of norms with respect to cheating, and ultimately, cheating behaviors. …
