Interactivity And Health Communication: Content Analysis Of Interactive Elements On Hiv/Aids Awareness And Prevention Websites, Vikas John

Individuals increasingly turn to the Internet to satisfy their information needs, including information on health-related issues like HIV/AIDS. Researchers agree that an important characteristic of this medium is interactivity. The concept can be viewed from either a user perspective, focusing on the user’s experience with the medium or a system perspective, analyzing the design of technology. The current study followed the system perspective to analyze the various features on HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention websites. Although all websites were interactive, there was considerable variation in the types of features present. This study attempted to find a relationship, if any, between the …

The thesis Mounted on a Pedestal, chronicles the life of Bertha Honoré Palmer. The focus of her story are the years after 1910, when she traveled to Sarasota, Florida and heralded the flight to the southernmost state, leading the pack in the purchase and development of land in the Sarasota/ Tampa Bay area. The totality of her years prior to that time serve as a prelude to her accomplishments and the vicissitudes of her life in the sleepy little fishing village she found.

The Anchor: 2007

The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). In recent years The Anchor moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. The Anchor is now published in print twice per academic semester. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

Amends the California Constitution to declare that “the right to health is a fundamental human right” and that “equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged on account of health”. Grants the Legislature the power to enforce these provisions by appropriate legislation. Summary of estimate by Legislative Analyst and Director of Finance of fiscal impact on state and local government: This measure would have no direct fiscal effect on the state. However, the measure could result in indeterminable state or local government costs depending on how it is interpreted and applied by the courts. (Initiative 07-0054.) …

Motivating The High School Struggling Reader, Michelle M. Sorensen

Theses and Graduate Projects

High school struggling readers exist in every classroom. They have difficulty in most subject areas and are deprived of much knowledge and interaction in their educational experience because of this setback. Today, during the age of high stakes testing, a struggling high school reader can be denied a diploma. At the Area Learning Center, a significant number of students attend because of their reading challenges. This study attempts to discover what factors can motivate the high school struggling reader to read more enthusiastically. Through open ended interviews, 14 students share their personal and academic experiences with reading. As students describe …
