Corporate Governance: The Revival Of An Academic, Professional, And Policy Field, Juan P. Artero Dec 2007

Corporate Governance: The Revival Of An Academic, Professional, And Policy Field, Juan P. Artero

McGannon Center Working Paper Series

This paper explores the basic concepts of corporate governance in relation to its intellectual foundations and historical development. The basic assumption relies on the fact that the reinforcement of corporate governance as an academic, professional, and policy field is a consequence of the many corporate failures that have occurred in recent years, mainly since 2002. Most theoretical developments for this new moment in history have been borrowed from the same academics and practitioners that reflected and worked on the field after the 1929 economic crash, with deep origin on general social scientific research. The heightening of the element of conflict and violent death has transformed the classic corrido into …

However, more people are starting to read, view and download television news and entertainment content on the Internet. In order tor the major networks and local TV stations to transition in the media broadcasting industry, station websites have become a requirement, so viewers may have the alternative to watch television on the Internet. This transition has …

The Potential For Transformation In Second Generation Afghan Women Through Graduate Education, Mahmud Yusuf Dec 2007

The Potential For Transformation In Second Generation Afghan Women Through Graduate Education, Mahmud Yusuf

Afghan immigrants are from one of the smallest ethnic groups in the United States and have only started arriving here after the 1980s. Afghan Americans have been educated in the American system by immigrant parents who have had little experience with this system. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with Afghan American women about education, family, ethnicity, and relationships. The women’s experiences are discussed in the interconnected contexts of the Afghan American experience, …
