Manufacturing Of High Performance Composites Using Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Molding, V. G. K. Menta Jan 2007

Manufacturing Of High Performance Composites Using Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Molding, V. G. K. Menta

Masters Theses

"The objective of this research is to establish and enhance the existing Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Molding (VARTM) process to manufacture high performance composite parts usable in the aerospace industry.

Flat, hat, pi and multi stiffened panels have been manufactured by the VARTM process using AS4-5HS and AS4-8HS carbon fabric, and SI-ZG-5A low viscosity epoxy resin. Silicone-based reusable molds have been designed and developed to manufacture stiffened panels. Dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) experiments of the SI-ZG-5A resin system were conducted to determine the storage modulus, loss modulus, and the glass transition temperature. The density and …

Great Kingfish Captains Of Fort Pierce, Florida, Tell Their Stories, Terry L. Howard Jan 2007

Great Kingfish Captains Of Fort Pierce, Florida, Tell Their Stories, Terry L. Howard

Florida Fishing Captains Oral History Project

This book chronicles the lives and fishing adventures of legendary Kingfish captains from Fort Pierce, Florida. It explores their expertise in King Mackerel fishing, detailing techniques, traditions, and memorable competitions. The narrative also addresses the environmental changes, regulatory challenges, and urbanization that have shaped the fishing industry over the years. Through personal stories, the book offers insights into a unique maritime culture and the resilience of those who have dedicated their lives to the waters of Florida's coast.

A Gis-Based Inventory Of Terrestrial Caves In West-Central Florida: Implications On Sensitivity, Disturbance, Ownership, And Management Priority A Gis-Based Inventory Of Terrestrial Caves In West-Central Florida: Implications On Sensitivity, Disturbance, Ownership, And Management Priority, Grant L. Harley

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Active cave management, which represents any continuous action to conserve, restore, or protect a cave environment, is virtually non-existent in west-central Florida. This study focuses on developing an inventory to rank terrestrial caves in west-central Florida by management priority. A GIS-based cave inventory system, including a cave sensitivity index and cave disturbance index, were used as a tool to gain an understanding of the management priority of west-central Florida caves. The inventory was applied to 36 terrestrial caves in west-central Florida, which demonstrated a wide range of sensitivity and disturbance. The results show that by relying solely on sensitivity and …

Seasonal Variations Of Co2 And 222rn In A Mediterranean Sinkhole, Christelle Batiot-Guilhe, Jean-Luc Seidel, Hervé Jourde Jan 2007

Seasonal Variations Of Co2 And 222rn In A Mediterranean Sinkhole, Christelle Batiot-Guilhe, Jean-Luc Seidel, Hervé Jourde

KIP Articles

Carbon dioxide and 222Rn monitoring of the atmosphere of a Mediterranean sink hole - spring (SE France) during two hydrological cycles (from September 2004 to September 2006) showed seasonal variations with very high concentrations during summer (greater than 6% and 20 000 Bq/m3, respectively). Gas dynamics in caves often show seasonal variations.Meteorological parameters (barometric pressure and temperature mainly), cave geometry and fracture networks control exchanges between the cavity and outside atmosphere. Carbon dioxide and 222Rn may have different sources (atmosphere, soil, bedrock, deep gas diffusion, in situ oxidation of organic matter and, in some caves, the key role of swift …

Modeling And Performance Estimation For Airborne Minefield Detection System, Saurabh Agarwal Jan 2007

Modeling And Performance Estimation For Airborne Minefield Detection System, Saurabh Agarwal

Masters Theses

"Many programs aimed at airborne mine and minefield detection are being pursued and different algorithms are being developed and evaluated to achieve performance specifications. Thus far, no single algorithm or detection architecture has been able to fulfill the performance specifications for different mine and minefield detection scenarios...a need exists for a simulation based approach. One such simulation system is developed and evaluated in this thesis. The factors affecting the performance of an airborne detection system include physical parameters (type of background, time of day), data collection parameters (swath width, number of steps, in-step and in-flight overlap), and minefield scenarios. Data …

Toward Improving Performance Measurement In Public Sector Organizations, Matthew Thomas Kutz Jan 2007

Toward Improving Performance Measurement In Public Sector Organizations, Matthew Thomas Kutz

Masters Theses

"The objective of this research is to investigate various means of improving the performance measurement methods for public sector organizations. A case study is conducted using data from the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT). As a government organization, MoDOT must publish measurements of its performance for the general public and for the legislators who provide funding. Currently, MoDOT produces a quarterly publication, called the Tracker, for performance measurement reporting. This research hypothesizes that the Tracker is not an effective performance measurement system and stakeholders of MoDOT would benefit from a more concise and pointed report of MoDOT performance. A software …

Recruiting And Retaining Gps And Patients In Intervention Studies: The Deps-Gp Project As A Case Study, M Williamson, J Pirkis, J Pfaff, O Tyson, Moira Sim, N Kerse, N Lautenschlager, N Stocks, O Almeida Jan 2007

Recruiting And Retaining Gps And Patients In Intervention Studies: The Deps-Gp Project As A Case Study, M Williamson, J Pirkis, J Pfaff, O Tyson, Moira Sim, N Kerse, N Lautenschlager, N Stocks, O Almeida

Research outputs pre 2011

Background: Recruiting and retaining GPs for research can prove difficult, and may result in sub-optimal patient participation where GPs are required to recruit patients. Low participation rates may affect the validity of research. This paper describes a multi-faceted approach to maximise participation of GPs and their patients in intervention studies, using an Australian randomised controlled trial of a depression/suicidality management intervention as a case study. The paper aims to outline experiences that may be of interest to others considering engaging GPs and/or their patients in primary care studies. Methods: A case study approach is used to describe strategies for: (a) …
