Many factors influence a prospective college student's final college decision. As Augsburg College seeks to grow its theatre department, the question of what matters most to prospective theatre students is especially timely. This project seeks to answer the question, "'What factors make the largest impact in attracting and matriculating theatre majors to Augsburg College?" One-on-one interviews were conducted with current Augsburg theatre students. These in-depth conversations provided insight into the effectiveness of various recruiting methods and identified untapped recruitment opportunities. A Study Of The Caring Relationship Between Nurses And Culturally Diverse Clients, Carol Phillips

This is a qualitative study that examines the caring relationship between the nurse and the culturally diverse client. The purpose was to gain insight into the process of the delivery of culturally congruent care. A method of Hermeneutic Phenomenological analysis was used to discover the meaning within the stories told by the nurse participants.

Transition Activities And Their Effects On Middle School Students, Vicki Sue Vanlaere

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness that transitional activities have on student achievement and attendance when students moved from elementary school to middle school. The data were gathered from two school districts that are demographically similar. Data included average daily attendance rates, Terra Nova Achievement Scores from social studies in grades five, six, and seven, as well as math in grades five, six, and seven. There were 187 students in the Treatment Group and 147 in the Control Group for a total of 334 students. Comparison of means for demographic equivalency of the groups (t-test) and …

While many people remember hearing about the French Revolution slogan of libert, galit et fraternit ringing through the streets of Paris in the eighteenth century, fewer people remember hearing about similar ideals ringing through the streets of Brussels, Bonn, and other European capitals in the 1950s with regard to the language policy of a united Europe. Branch Detonation Of A Pulse Detonation Engine With Flash Vaporized Jp-8, John David Slack

Pulse Detonation Engines (PDE) operating on liquid hydrocarbon fuels are limited to operating frequencies of 35 Hz due to long ignition times from a low energy ignition sources. This study shows ignition time of JP-8 can be nearly eliminated by igniting a thrust tube using a secondary detonation. A counter flow heat exchanger attached to a thrust tube utilized waste heat from the detonation process to heat JP-8 to supercritical conditions. The fuel flash vaporized when injected into the air stream of the engine. A detonation was produced by a spark in a 5 cm diameter, 1.37 m long tube. …

Elevated Neutral-To-Earth Voltage In Distribution Systems Including Harmonics, Jian Jiang

The elevated neutral-to-earth voltage (NEV), and the related phenomenon called stray voltage, is analyzed in multigrounded distribution systems. Elevated NEV is typically caused by fundamental frequency currents returning to the source via the neutral conductor and earth. However, harmonic distortion is also found to contribute to elevated NEV. A multiphase harmonic load flow algorithm is developed to examine the effects of various factors on the NEV, including unsymmetrical system configuration, load unbalance and harmonic injection. To fulfill this objective, the system modeling is adapted to include the neutral conductor into the component equivalent circuit. The overhead transmission line is remodeled …

OXFORD, Miss. - After Hurricane Katrina devastated the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 2005, a law student at the University of Mississippi helped start a nationwide network of law students to provide legal aid to victims. The resulting Student Hurricane Network, involving more than 65 schools, has been recognized with a national award.
