Courtship, Loe, And Marriage In Othello: Shakespeare's Mockery Of Courtly Love, Leigh Copas Dec 2006

Courtship, Loe, And Marriage In Othello: Shakespeare's Mockery Of Courtly Love, Leigh Copas

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

Othello is the forgery of a comedic play turned tragedy, for the play begins where the ordinary comedy would end. While many critics prefer to discuss the racial and exotic aspects of William Shakespeare's tragedy, there are several critics who focus on the role of love and the marital relationships that are also important in terms of interpreting the actions of key characters. Carol Thomas Neely, Maurice Charney, and several other literary critics have focused primarily on the role of marriage and love in Othello. The topic of marriage is generally discussed in terms of the wooing scene (Act 1, …

Design Of A One Day Workshop On Intuition, Alexander Von Reumont Dec 2006

Design Of A One Day Workshop On Intuition, Alexander Von Reumont

Creativity and Change Leadership Graduate Student Master's Projects

Intuition has been basically an untouched field in the domain of creativity research. I therefore wanted to investigate intuition in this study from scratch. I wanted to find out what laymen, as well as experts in the field of creativity knew about intuition, what their perceptions and expectations were, and what they wanted to know and learn about it in the future. The purpose of this study was twofold. First, to find rational explanations for intuition which support my hypothesis that it is a wildly neglected but natural and highly influential part of our intelligence. Second, to develop a one …

Early Belgian Colonial Efforts: The Long And Fateful Shadow Of Leopold I, Robert R. Ansiaux

History Dissertations - Archive

The continuing debate over the causes, effects and future implications of European colonialism and imperialism is perhaps best viewed through a transatlantic lens. The various phases of imperialism from 1415 through 1914 provide ample time and examples of this continuous cultural interchange. The last of these interchanges, forced or otherwise, is that of the New Imperialism of 1860-1914. Discussions of later globalization and economic/cultural imperialism are not covered. That discussion is a different subject perhaps requiring different tools of analysis, especially economic. The impact of this last period reverberates through the current world discussion on rights, obligations, morality and law, …

From which viewpoint do Gabonese writers relate to the realities of the political and social policies of their country and what place do political players occupy in their works? Why do they hesitate so much to denounce the problems of their society? Why is there such a pronounced silence within their literary works? This article raises these delicate and complex questions. The report produced on the evolution of Gabonese writing affirms that writers’ silence is the product of self-censorship. They are condemned to fear saying anything, not only because of potential reprisals, but because they are, for the majority, political …
