The neurotrophin receptor TrkA plays critical roles in the nervous system by recruiting signaling molecules that activate pathways required for the growth and survival of neurons. Here, we report APPL1 as a TrkA-associated protein. APPL1 and TrkA coirnmunoprecipitated in sympathetic neurons. We have identified two routes through which this association can occur. APPL1 was isolated as a binding partner for the TrkA-interacting protein GIPC1 from rat brain lysate by mass spectrometry. The PDZ domain of GIPC1 directly engaged the C-terminal sequence of APPL1. This interaction provides a means through which APPL1 may be recruited to TrkA. In addition, the APPL1 …

Voice and data cabling enable people around the world to communicate by phone, fax, and computer. Cabling is the basis for virtually every network. Today's voice and data cabling is engineered to balance high performance with cost efficiency. The quality of the service provided by the cabling is directly related to the quality of the installation. Properly installed cabling can provide years of service for networks, in most cases outlasting every device connected to the network. Experience has taught us that too many people don't realize the importance of cable infrastructure. At Alfred State College, in the Computer Engineering Technology …

Secularism In Turkey: The Perpetual Tipping Point: Key To The Future Or Prelude To Collapse, Peter R. Catalono
Secularism In Turkey: The Perpetual Tipping Point: Key To The Future Or Prelude To Collapse, Peter R. Catalono
Student Work
During the Cold War, the strategic significance of Turkey to the United States was clear: limit the expansion of the Soviet Union and maintain control of the Dardanelles. For the past decade and a half Western policymakers (US and European) have sent mixed signals to the Turks as to the importance of Turkey in the region, as a bridge between East and West, and in the World. Through eight decades of secular rule Turkey has shown that a democratic and secular state can exist within an almost entirely Muslim population. This thesis is made up of five main parts that …

Living With Other Gods: Discovering How People Live In A Religiously Pluralistic Environment, Hope Tomaselli
Verbum
In lieu of an abstract, below is the essay's first paragraph.
"It is inevitable that people will always disagree on different matters in life. One of the most controversial issues in today’s world is religion. There are numerous religions in the world and each one carries different beliefs. What many people do not understand is that in order to live peacefully, people need to be willing to accept and respect that everyone does not share the same religion. Instead of arguing over who is right and who is wrong, we as a people should respect each other’s right to believe …

Initial Public Offerings, Subsequent Seasoned Equity Offerings, And Long-Run Performance: Evidence From Ipos In Germany, Wolfgang Bessler, Stefan Thies
The Journal of Entrepreneurial Finance
The objective of this study is to investigate the long-run performance of initial public offerings (IPO) in Germany for the period from 1977 to 1995. Of particular interest is to examine whether underpricing and the timing of subsequent seasoned equty offerings (SEO) may help to explain why some firms have substantial positive and others have substantial negative long-run abnormal holding period returns after going public. We find significant empirical evidence that firms that raised additional funds after an IPO through a seasoned equity offering outperformed the market. There is a significant difference in returns relative to the firms that had …

Mercer Law Review
This Article surveys noteworthy cases in the field of civil trial practice during the survey period1 by the Georgia Supreme Court and the Georgia Court of Appeals and relevant enactments by the Georgia General Assembly. This Article does not address the related and important topic of evidence, which is addressed in a separate survey. After describing relevant legislation, this Article surveys developments in trial practice in the order that they would be encountered in the typical case: pleadings, discovery, motions practice, juries and jury selection, statements and arguments of counsel, trial motions, jury instructions, and verdict forms.
