The Relationship Between Sleep, Behavior, And Pre-Academic Skills In Pre-Kindergarteners, Rachel B. Witte
The Relationship Between Sleep, Behavior, And Pre-Academic Skills In Pre-Kindergarteners, Rachel B. Witte
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this study was to examine prevalence rates of several sleep disorders symptoms in young children, and the relationship between symptoms of pediatric sleep disorders and other childhood problems. Eighty-six children aged 3 to 5 years were studied through parent report and academic assessment. Children rated as high risk for having a sleep disorder displayed more externalizing and internalizing problems, less developed social skills, and lower scores on a measure of pre-academic skills, as compared to children whose sleep was rated in the normal range. It was found that 33% of children were at high risk for having …

Retrospective Assessment Of Childhood Sexual And Physical Abuse: A Comparison Of Scaled And Behaviorally Specific Approaches, David Dilillo, Michelle A. Fortier, Sarah A. Hayes, Emily Trask, Andrea R. Perry, Terri Messman-Moore, Angèle Fauchier, Cindy Nash
Department of Psychology: Faculty Publications
This study compared retrospective reports of childhood sexual and physical abuse as assessed by two measures: the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ), which uses a Likert-type scaling approach, and the Computer Assisted Maltreatment Inventory (CAMI), which employs a behaviorally specific means of assessment. Participants included 1,195 undergraduate students recruited from three geographically diverse universities. Agreement was high across the two measures in the classification of victim status (92% and 80% for sexual and physical abuse, respectively). However, the CTQ classified more participants as sexually abused than did the CAMI, whereas the opposite trend was found for physical abuse. For child physical …
Theories Of Supranationalism In The Eu, Rafael Leal-Arcas
Theories Of Supranationalism In The Eu, Rafael Leal-Arcas
ExpressO
Supranationalism has been a topic of analysis from various points of view when trying to understand the process of European integration. This article aims at presenting the major theories of supranationalism when discussing the ongoing process of European integration. Three main theories are examined: 1) normative versus decisional supranationalism; 2) theories of partial integration, and 3) legal theories of economic integration (such as the neo-liberal economic policy, the European Community (EC) as a special-purpose association of functional integration, as well as the theory of the supranational and intergovernmental dual structure of the EC).

Legitimation Of Trade-Related Environmental Measures Under The Wto, Eun Sup Lee
Legitimation Of Trade-Related Environmental Measures Under The Wto, Eun Sup Lee
ExpressO
Even though the WTO Appellate Body has consistently tried to confirm its position as the environmentalist of the WTO through the positive environment-friendly interpretations of the environment-related provisions, free trade supporters including developing nations and environmentalists do not seem satisfied with those efforts and performance of the WTO. In order to address more specifically the criticism from both free trade supporters and environmentalists on how to harmonize trade and environmental measures, that is, to reduce the concerns about uncertainty and abuse argumented respectively by each side simultaneously, this article suggests that the exceptions of Article XX (b) would add the …
The Trademark Function Of Authorship, Greg Lastowka
The Trademark Function Of Authorship, Greg Lastowka
ExpressO
The use of authorial marks in relation to the sale of creative works, like the use of business trademarks in relation to the sale of goods and services, creates social benefits that deserve legal protection. Authorial attribution acts as an incentive to authorial production, provides valuable information to consumers, and provides additional social benefits that go beyond issues of market efficiency. However, the use of authorial marks, like the use of trademarks, can create social harms. Just as counterfeiters place illegitimate trademarks on goods, exploiters of entertainment markets may be tempted to misattribute authorship. In the United States, such deceptive …
