Higher education boards are turning to accountable board leadership and macroengagement discussions in lieu of traditional micromanagement of operations. The Policy Governance© model integrates unique principles designed to enable accountable board leadership. This paper describes an Action Research project that was conducted with the Board of Yavapai College. The Board adopted Policy Governance© but failed to practice its tenets. This research seeks to demonstrate whether a technology based board management system, OurBoardroom, that fully implements Policy Governance©, can assist the Board in the practice of the model. Preparative Synthesis Of Dtdp-L-Rhamnose Through Combined Enzymatic Pathways, Young Bok Abraham Kang, Yung-Hun Yang, Kwang-Won Lee, Sun-Gu Lee, Jae Kyung Sohng, Hei Chan Lee, Kwangkyoung Liou, Byung-Gee Kim

dTDP-L-rhamnose, an important precursor of O-antigen, was prepared on a large scale from dTMP by executing an one-pot reaction in which six enzymes are involved. Two enzymes, dTDP-4-keto-6-deoxy-D-glucose 3,5-epimerase and dTDP-4-keto-rhamnose reductase, responsible for the conversion of dTDP-4-keto-6-deoxy- D-glucose to dTDP-L-rhamnose, were isolated from their putative sequences in the genome of Mesorhizobium loti, functionally expressed in Escherichia coli, and their enzymatic activities were identified. The two enzymes were combined with an enzymatic process for dTDP-4- keto-6-deoxy-D-glucose involving TMP kinase, acetate kinase, dTDP-glucose synthase, and dTDP-glucose 4,6- dehydratase, which allowed us to achieve a preparative scale synthesis of dTDP-L-rhamnose using dTMP …

Facts: The government decided to reduce the amount of income supplement benefit paid to individuals and families, and to cancel several subsidies given to persons receiving income supplement benefit. The reduction in the amount of income supplement benefit and the cancellation of the subsidies were incorporated into the Income Supplement Law by means of the State Economy Arrangements (Legislative Amendments for Achieving the Budget Goals and the Economic Policy for the 2003 Fiscal Year) Law, 5763-2002.

Sustainable Resources was a non-profit organization based out of Boulder, CO that, at the time of this project hosted yearly conferences to help find solutions to world poverty. Although, the previous web site had a professional appearance, it was not meeting their needs with regards to usability, extensibility, and maintainability, as they had been forced to rely heavily on a transient volunteer IT labor base. The aim of this project was to address their functional and maintenance problems. The application's front-end was built in adherence to the Model -view-Controller (MVC) design pattern and implemented using the Jakarta Struts framework and …
