The Art Of Vision Casting For Church Multiplication, J. D. Payne Oct 2005

The Art Of Vision Casting For Church Multiplication, J. D. Payne

Journal of the American Society for Church Growth

“A plan in the heart of man is like deep water, but a man of understanding draws it out.” Proverbs 20:5 (NASB). The writer of the above verse reminds us of the importance of having knowledge in regard to moving one’s plans out of the deep recesses of the heart to the surface to where those plans can be carried out. This proverb has much to say about casting a vision for multiplication. Casting, or drawing out that vision from the heart so that others will take ownership of that vision and work to carry it out, requires a discerning …

Envisioning The Multi-Ethnic Church: A Biblical Mandate From The Book Of Ephesians, J. Mark Deymaz Oct 2005

Envisioning The Multi-Ethnic Church: A Biblical Mandate From The Book Of Ephesians, J. Mark Deymaz

Journal of the American Society for Church Growth

Increasingly, the next generation of church planters and reformers throughout America are envisioning local churches where men and women of diverse ethnic and economic backgrounds can, indeed, worship God together as one. Yet for dreams to become reality, it is essential that growing interest in the multi-ethnic church be informed by sound theological, ecclesiological and soteriological reflection. The purpose of this article is to provide biblical justification and personal motivation for the growing number of innovators devoted to the establishment of multi-ethnic local churches throughout America and beyond. In addition, a fresh look at Paul’s letter to the Ephesians may …

A Short History Of Winfield C. Arn And The Institute For American Church Growth, Gary L. Mcintosh

Journal of the American Society for Church Growth

Flowing out of the first Church Growth class for pastors and denominational leaders in the USA at the School of World Mission of Fuller Theological seminary , three organizations became the primary pipelines for communicating Church Growth theory to pastors and church leaders until the late 1990s—the Institute for American Church Growth, the Fuller Evangelistic Association, and the Fuller Seminary Doctor of Ministry program. Of the three, the Institute for American Church Growth presented the most consistent or pure form of McGavran’s church growth missiology.

Review Of Lewis And Clark And The Geology Of The Great Plains And Lewis And Clark And The Geology Of Nebraska And Parts Of Adjacent States, Harmon D. Maher Jr.

Geography and Geology Faculty Publications

When it comes to science in general, and the geology of the Great Plains in particular, there is arguably an imbalance between the wealth of material written for experts and the relative paucity written for the general public. These publications help correct that imbalance at a time when the various Lewis and Clark celebrations create an especially receptive and engaged audience.

Sweden’S Use Of Commercial Information Technology For Military Applications, Franklin D. Kramer, John C. Cittadino

Defense Horizons

Sweden, a nation of only 9 million people with a political climate that has fostered a posture of nonalignment for over half a century, has nevertheless maintained highly credible, modern, and high-technology military forces. Sweden has expanded the mission of forces originally designed for the Cold War to include international peacekeeping. The focus of this study is the Swedish formula for achieving the high-technology military capabilities that successfully compensate for a small standing force. What policies and processes enabled the Swedish military to take advantage of leading-edge producers of commercial information technology (CIT)? What lessons does the Swedish model hold …

Maintaining Privacy During Psychosocial Research On The International Space Station, Jennifer Boyd Ritsher, Nick Kanas, Stephanie Saylor Oct 2005

Maintaining Privacy During Psychosocial Research On The International Space Station, Jennifer Boyd Ritsher, Nick Kanas, Stephanie Saylor

Journal of Human Performance in Extreme Environments

Conducting psychosocial research on the International Space Station (ISS) requires rigorous privacy precautions that exceed standard scientific human subject protocols. In our previous study involving crewmembers on Mir, and in our ongoing ISS work, special precautions were taken during each phase of the missions. Pre-flight, participants received detailed consent forms explaining that only group-level data would be presented, and they chose ID codes known only to them. In-flight, special procedures protected data during collection and transmission. Post-flight, our analytic strategy further masked participants’ identities, and participant representatives were invited to review manuscript drafts prior to publication. In this paper we …

It re-categorizes the results to align with the Planning Commission’s classifications and finds differences in projected residential build-out percentages and units per acre, highlighting areas where further analysis is needed to reconcile discrepancies.

Russia And Nato: Increased Interaction In Defense Research And Technology, Donald C. Daniel, Michael I. Yarymovych

Defense Horizons

As a member of both the Partnership for Peace and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)–Russia Council (NRC), Russia enjoys remarkable status in an alliance formed principally to counter Soviet aggression. Active participation in one additional element of NATO—the Research and Technology Organization (RTO)—would offer unique opportunities to enhance relationships and mutual security. The RTO is the largest organization of its type in the world, has an extremely active program of work, and is eager to work with Russia.

Enhanced cooperation between NATO and Russia in defense-related research and technology would not be easy. Mistrust is an obstacle, as is …
