Vulnerability Of Northern Prairie Wetlands To Climate Change, Carter W. Johnson, B. V. Millett, T. Gilmanov, G. R. Guntenspergen, David E. Naugle

Wildlife Biology Faculty Publications

The prairie pothole region (PPR) lies in the heart of North America and contains millions of glacially formed, depressional wetlands embedded in a landscape matrix of natural grassland and agriculture. These wetlands provide valuable ecosystem services and produce 50% to 80% of the continent's ducks. We explored the broad spatial and temporal patterns across the PPR between climate and wetland water levels and vegetation by applying a wetland simulation model (WETSIM) to 18 stations with 95-year weather records. Simulations suggest that the most productive habitat for breeding waterfowl would shift under a drier climate from the center of the PPR …

Faculty and Staff Publications

Landscapes of Power and Identity presents three interrelated stories, starting with the authors personal journey over two decades of research and reflection about the relationships between human societies and the environments they create in North and South America. It links her experiences to the histories of conquest, native communities, and the colonial societies they helped to shape in two frontier regions of Spanish America: northwestern Mexico and eastern Bolivia. Beginning with the title, this book explores nuanced meanings of landscapes coming from art history, landscape architecture, history and anthropology. It makes special contributions as a comparative history grounded in extensive …

This is the second article describing the design and implementation of a Minority Librarian Residency Program at the University of Tennessee Libraries. The first article, which appeared in the spring 2004 issue of The Southeastern Librarian, provided the background for “Seeding the Vision” and outlined the process used to identify, recruit, and interview qualified librarians for the residency positions. Preferred Learning Styles For Respiratory Care Students At Texas State University – San Marcos, Chris Russian Oct 2005

Preferred Learning Styles For Respiratory Care Students At Texas State University – San Marcos, Chris Russian

Internet Journal of Allied Health Sciences and Practice

Academic success includes setting goals, effective time management, and the match of teaching methods to learning style. It also depends on the educator and the manner in which material is presented. Learning style influences the retention of information and the depth of comprehension.
